Main Storyline Missions

The Main Storyline is the core run of story missions in Star Trek Fleet Command, 315 missions that carry you from your first ship and shipyard all the way to the quantum vacuum at the Vacuum Epicenter. Recommended levels run from 2 to 60, although more than half the missions carry no level recommendation, and the warp needed to complete them runs from 1 to 400. Rewards climb from under a hundred Parsteel and your first officer shards to billions of Parsteel, 1B Parsteel Tokens, Latinum, and shards for Jean-Luc Picard and Data.

How the Main Storyline works

Apart from the Catalyst chain, these are single missions, and they fall into three broad stretches.

Levels 2 to 22: the opening

The first 89 missions with a level recommendation run from level 2 to level 22 and all of them finish inside warp 19, most at warp 1. Many are station and ship tasks, such as Tune Up, Building the Shipyard and Stockpiling Tritanium, and the rewards grow from double-digit Parsteel to a few hundred thousand. This stretch ends with Choosing Sides at level 22, where you pick Federation, Romulan or Klingon space and relocate your station there. Every path pays 150,000 Parsteel, and the choice decides which faction gains 100 points and 100 credits.

The middle: missions without a level recommendation

163 missions have no level recommendation, so warp range is the real guide to when you can run them. They spread across the whole warp range: 41 finish at warp 1, others need warp 5 to 47 for missions such as Buying Silence and Flashpoint, through a large group at warp 56 to 100, and a final group at warp 105 to 185. A Familiar Face is one of the warp 80 missions: you track down a Vulcan base behind raids on Romulan colonies, donate 1 million Dilithium partway through, and collect 4★ Refined Crystal and an Ion Particle. This group also holds the Operations 41 to 49 series, where each mission completes when you upgrade Operations to that level and pays 4★ Uncommon or Rare refined ore, crystal and gas.

Levels 40 to 60: the endgame

The level recommendations pick up again at Fragments of the Past, a level 40 mission where you back either the Suliban or the Corvallen, and then run from level 49 to 60. Most of these need warp 150 to 230, and All We Need Within Us needs warp 400, the longest trip in the storyline. The Catalyst chain at levels 49 and 50 sends you after Borg activity on the edge of known space.

The last stretch takes you with VESTA to the quantum vacuum. The End of Everything at level 58 asks you to collapse the vacuum at the Vacuum Epicenter, with one path costing 150 million Tritanium and a fight against the USS Montenegro at about 41.7 million strength, and the other costing 40 million Dilithium with no fight. At level 59, When You Stare Into the Void… pays 4.5 billion Parsteel, and … Something Stares Back sends you to the Vacuum Epicenter to investigate a signal from the quantum vacuum. It starts on its own as a story continuation, needs warp 205, and pays no direct reward beyond opening the next step. The Edge of Existence, at level 60, asks for one Void Configuration Token at warp 1.

Main Storyline rewards worth chasing

The early missions hand out shards for the Next Gen crew. Small Favor pays 3 Next Gen Crusher and 3 Next Gen Data shards, Schemes pays 3 Next Gen Troi and 3 Next Gen La Forge, and The Art Dealer adds 3 more Next Gen Data. Security Sweep pays 4 Barot shards, Show of Force pays a Lucia Gonzales shard, and Flashpoint pays 2 Koth shards.

In the endgame, Jean-Luc Picard shards come from Catalyst Parts 1 and 10 and from The End of Everything, 3 each. Six missions pay a Data shard: Beyond Horizons, In the Failures of the Past, Riddles & Miscommunications, What They Cannot Hold, Ours By Might and Unmitigated. You Think You Know Me pays a Deanna Troi shard, and Catalyst Part 2 pays 2 Geordi La Forge shards.

At the top end, Pursuits of the Mind pays 6.7 billion Parsteel and 5,000 Latinum, Unfortunate Realities pays 6 billion Parsteel, and The End of Everything pays either 4 billion Parsteel with 1,500 Latinum or 23 1B Parsteel Tokens, depending on your path. Catalyst Parts 4 to 9 each pay a 5★ Broken Interceptor Part. In the middle group, Trust Your Instincts pays 6,000 Latinum and a Pattern Disruptor, and Paths to Tread pays 1,400 Ultra Recruit Tokens.

Main Storyline mission chains

All 315 Main Storyline missions

The table lists every mission sorted by recommended level, where a level of 1 means the mission has no level recommendation; Catalyst links go straight to that part’s section on the chain page, and Bounty and Catalyst Part 3 sit at the end without level, warp or reward details.

The Combat Training missions and the Research & Building missions are the other large mission sets that run alongside the story. For every mission in the game sorted by level, use the mission guide.
