Contact Zero is a short endgame story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you inspect the remnants of a civilization in the Draumen system. It has three steps, no fights and no donations. The game lists a recommended level of 51, and although it can be accepted at warp 1, it needs warp 185 to complete. No resource reward is listed. Its value is that finishing it unlocks the next mission, Riddles & Miscommunications.
Contact Zero objectives
The story line asks you to inspect the remnants of a civilization. There are three objectives in a fixed order and no choice split:
- Investigate the Draumen system. Location: Draumen.
- Accompany the away team. Location: Draumen.
- Return to your Station.
All the work happens in Draumen. You arrive, stay with the away team while it investigates, then head home to close the mission. No hostile is listed as part of the objectives.
Where and what warp
Contact Zero can be accepted at warp 1, but it needs warp 185 to complete, and every step is in Draumen. The recommended level is 51, and here the listed level lines up with the warp: 185 is endgame range.
Contact Zero rewards
No items or resources are listed for this mission. Completing it unlocks the next mission in the chain, Riddles & Miscommunications. The game’s mission text for that follow-up asks for an R&D Department upgrade to level 50.
What comes next: R&D level 50
That upgrade is a large one. Current building data lists the R&D Department level 50 upgrade as follows:
| Level | Cost | Build time (unboosted) | Requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 149,940,000,000 Parsteel, 551,250,000 Dilithium | 1,383 days 11 hours | Operations 50, Academy 50, Treasury 1 |
| 51 | 747,864,000,000 Parsteel, 1,170,000,000 Dilithium, 20,600 5★ Common Refined Gas | 1,552 days 18 hours | Operations 51, Academy 51, Tritanium Vault 51 |
The separate R&D Department Level 50 station mission pays 230 100K Dilithium Tokens and 60 8 Hour Speed Ups for the same upgrade.
Hostiles in Draumen
Draumen is not empty. Current hostile data lists two Federation hostile types there, both around the mission’s recommended level:
| Hostile | Levels in Draumen | Notable drops |
|---|---|---|
| Baelosian Miner | 50–53 | 5★ Broken Survey Parts |
| Section 31 Troubleshooter | 50–52 | 5★ Broken Explorer Parts |
Neither is part of the mission, but since you have to fly to Draumen anyway, they are an option for a farming stop. Both also carry Federation and Romulan reputation changes, so check your standings first.
Tips
Any ship with warp 185 can finish this mission, since there is no combat objective. A fast ship saves time on the long trip out and back.
Start planning the R&D upgrade early if the follow-up mission is on your list. The level 50 build takes years unboosted and needs Operations 50, Academy 50 and a Treasury.
Other missions are listed on the mission guide.
