The Edge of Existence

The Edge of Existence is a single-objective donation mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, recommended for level 60 commanders. It asks for one Void Configuration Token, sits at warp 1 so there is no long trip to plan, and pays out in Dilithium and Parsteel resource tokens plus a chunk of ship XP. Finishing it opens the next mission in its chain, so it works as a short gate between bigger steps.

The Edge of Existence objectives

There is a single objective, and it is a hand-in rather than a combat or travel step:

  • Donate 1 Void Configuration Token

Because the task is a donation, the mission clears the moment you turn in the token. There is no enemy to defeat and no system you have to fly out to for the step itself, which makes this one of the faster missions to close out once you have the token in hand.

Where and what warp

The mission runs at warp 1, both to start and to complete, so it stays right next to your current position. Warp 1 is the shortest jump in the game, which keeps fuel use and travel time close to nothing. The recommended level is 60, so it is aimed at established players in the mid game who are running level-appropriate ships and crews and have progressed far enough to be collecting Void Configuration Tokens in the first place.

The mission sits in a chain, and this step works as a gate: turning in the token is what lets the story move forward to the part that follows. That is a common shape in Star Trek Fleet Command, where a specific mission item stands between you and the next objective. If you do not yet hold a Void Configuration Token, the mission stays parked until you have one, so the token is the thing to line up rather than a ship or a crew.

The Edge of Existence rewards

For a one-step mission the payout leans heavily on resource tokens you can bank and open when you need them:

Reward Amount
1M Dilithium Token 10
1B Parsteel Token 13
Ship XP 2,500

The Dilithium and Parsteel tokens are stored grants: each one releases a set amount of that resource when you use it, so you can hold them until a build, a research project, or a refit needs the top-up. Ten million Dilithium and thirteen billion Parsteel is a strong bank for a single donation. Completing the mission also unlocks the next part in its chain, which is progression rather than loot.

Tips

The whole mission hinges on having a Void Configuration Token ready, so the only real prep is to secure one before you pick the mission up. Once it is in your inventory the objective clears immediately and you collect the full reward in a single pass. There are no fights and no travel beyond warp 1, so there is no crew or loadout to build around here. If you are stockpiling for a larger goal, hold the Dilithium and Parsteel tokens until you actually need the resource rather than opening them on sight; each token is worth the same amount whenever you cash it in, so banking them gives you flexibility without costing you anything.
