Tithe of Honor is an early Klingon mission that asks you to clear a few hostiles, then decide which ship Captain Kurbon leaves for you. It runs at warp 1, so a starter ship can reach it and finish it with no warp research. Both endings pay Tritanium and 1★ Explorer parts, and clearing it opens the next part of the chain.
Tithe of Honor objectives
There are two objectives, and the second one splits into a choice.
- Destroy 3 hostiles of level 2 or higher.
- Choose a target to appease Captain Kurbon.
The split arrives with Kurbon’s offer to divide the work: you take one ship, he takes the other, and the honor gets shared. Your answer changes both the target you fight and what you walk away with.
Orion Saboteur path
- Destroy the Orion Saboteur, at roughly 221 strength.
Federation path
- Destroy the Federation Science Vessel, at roughly 221 strength.
Both targets sit at about the same strength, so the ship that handled the first three hostiles will handle either one. The decision is a reward decision, not a difficulty one.
Where and what warp
Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete. Nothing in this mission pulls you out past your opening systems, which is why it lands so early in the Klingon storyline. If you have a ship built at all, you can reach every step of it.
The only real gate is the first objective. Level 1 spawns do not count toward it, so you need hostiles at level 2 or above. In the systems around your base those sit alongside the level 1 ships, and it is easy to burn a few minutes killing spawns that never move the counter.
Tithe of Honor rewards
The payout depends entirely on which target you take.
| Choice | Tritanium | Explorer parts |
|---|---|---|
| Orion Saboteur | 240 | 8 × 1★ |
| Federation Science Vessel | 160 | 12 × 1★ |
Either way the mission also moves you forward in the chain and unlocks the part that follows.
Tips
Pick the branch that matches what you are short on. The Orion Saboteur route is the Tritanium route, worth 80 more than the alternative, which matters if a building upgrade or a repair is sitting in your queue. The Federation Science Vessel route trades that Tritanium for four extra 1★ Explorer parts, which is the better trade if you are working toward an early Explorer and grinding parts one drop at a time.
Do the three hostile kills before you talk to Kurbon rather than mixing the two steps. Hostiles at level 2 and 3 near your base go down fast at this stage, and knocking all three out in one pass keeps you from flying back and forth.
Repair between the hostile grind and the final target. At around 221 strength the Orion Saboteur and the Science Vessel are both a step up from the level 2 spawns you just fought, and going in with a damaged hull is the one way an early player loses this fight.
Run it early. Warp 1 and level 2 hostiles mean the requirements never get easier, and the mission is a prerequisite for what comes next in the chain.
