Perpetual Motion is a station mission in Star Trek Fleet Command with one objective: upgrade Operations to level 36. The story line says to upgrade Operations to increase the station’s power. It needs only warp 1 to start and finish, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. The reward is 30,000,000 Parsteel, and finishing it unlocks One of Us. It pays out for the same upgrade as the regular Operations 36 mission, so you collect both rewards for one build.
Perpetual Motion objectives
There is a single objective and no choice split:
- Upgrade Operations to Level 36.
No system, hostile or donation is involved. The mission completes when Operations reaches level 36.
Where and what warp
Warp 1 to start and to complete, with no pickup system. The recommended level is listed as 1, but the mission cannot complete until Operations 36 is built, so the upgrade is the real gate.
Perpetual Motion rewards
The mission pays 30,000,000 Parsteel. Completing it also unlocks the next mission in the storyline, One of Us.
What Operations 36 costs
| Operations level | Main costs | Build time | Requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| 35 | 5.05M Tritanium, 274.7M Parsteel, 1.68M Dilithium, 3★ refined ore | 40d | Parsteel Warehouse 34, Tritanium Warehouse 34, Dilithium Warehouse 34 |
| 36 | 7.11M Tritanium, 387.0M Parsteel, 2.37M Dilithium, 3,500 3★ Common Refined Ore, 1,370 3★ Uncommon Refined Ore | 51d 4h | Shipyard 35, Parsteel Warehouse 31 |
| 37 | 10.94M Tritanium, 594.9M Parsteel, 3.65M Dilithium, 3★ refined ore | 52d 21h | Shipyard 36 |
Build times are unboosted. The 30M Parsteel reward covers under a tenth of the 387M Parsteel this level costs, so it is a refund on part of the bill rather than the whole of it. The Weapon Damage Bonus that Operations adds to all your ships is 35% at level 35 and 40% at level 40.
Two missions for one upgrade
Operations 36 completes two missions at once: Perpetual Motion and the regular station mission for the same level. Current game data:
| Mission | Rewards |
|---|---|
| Perpetual Motion | 30,000,000 Parsteel |
| Upgrade Operations to Level 36 | 7,500,000 Tritanium, 1 × 3 Hour Repair Speed Up |
The regular mission pays Tritanium, which covers the 7.11M Tritanium the upgrade costs. Perpetual Motion adds Parsteel on top.
Where it sits in the storyline

|---|---|---|---|
| Syndicated Science | 11 | Rescue Feyn from an Orion slaver in Rigel, about 527,149 | 5,000,000 Parsteel, 750,000 Tritanium |
| Perpetual Motion | 1 | Upgrade Operations to Level 36 | 30,000,000 Parsteel |

Tips
Line up Shipyard 35 and Parsteel Warehouse 31 before you save for the upgrade itself. Those are the two requirements for Operations 36.
Look ahead to One of Us. It asks for a Rank V Commendation from a faction store, so check your faction standing while Operations 36 builds. Other missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
