A Long, Dark Walk Through The Void

A Long, Dark Walk Through The Void is a short story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you investigate an alien monolith. There are two objectives: visit the monolith in Dhi’ban, then bring your findings home. No fight is involved. The game lists a recommended level of 1 and the mission needs warp 11 to complete. The reward is 2,500,000 Parsteel and 250 3★ Survey Parts, which is a lot for a single round trip.

A Long, Dark Walk Through The Void objectives

There are two objectives and no choice split:

  • Visit the alien monolith. Location: Dhi’ban.
  • Bring your findings back to the Station.

The monolith is on the planet Dhi’Ban in the Dhi’ban system, a level 14 neutral system. Reach it and the first objective clears. The second step is a return trip: recall your ship to your station and the mission completes.

Where and what warp

The mission can be picked up at warp 1 and needs warp 11 to complete. Dhi’ban is the only system it names.

The recommended level is listed as 1. Because nothing here has to be fought, the only real requirement is a ship that can reach Dhi’ban and get back.

A Long, Dark Walk Through The Void rewards

Reward Amount
Parsteel 2,500,000
3★ Survey Parts 250

Completing it unlocks the next mission in the monolith storyline, Double Helix.

How it follows Triangulation

This mission comes after Triangulation, where you visit Dhi’Ban and pick a faction to help you unlock the monolith. Each faction path pays the same Parsteel and Ship XP but a different refined resource. Current game data:

Mission or path Warp to complete Rewards
Triangulation, Andoria path 33 2,500,000 Parsteel, 25 3★ Rare Refined Gas, 5,000 Ship XP
Triangulation, Romulan path via Vendor 33 2,500,000 Parsteel, 25 3★ Rare Refined Ore, 5,000 Ship XP
Triangulation, Klingon path via Beta Penthe 33 2,500,000 Parsteel, 25 3★ Rare Refined Crystal, 5,000 Ship XP
A Long, Dark Walk Through The Void 11 2,500,000 Parsteel, 250 3★ Survey Parts

The warp drops sharply between the two. Triangulation needs warp 33 for the faction trip, while this mission only goes back to Dhi’ban at warp 11, so any ship that finished Triangulation will have no trouble here.

Tips

Send a survey ship. There is no combat, and the 250 3★ Survey Parts are the reward that stands out for survey pilots. Nothing in the mission needs weapons.

Use the Parsteel on your next building upgrade. 2,500,000 Parsteel arrives as soon as your ship docks, so plan the trip for when you have an upgrade waiting.

Go straight into Double Helix afterwards to keep the monolith story moving. Other missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
