Junior Grade is an early station mission in Star Trek Fleet Command with a single objective: promote one of your officers to the rank of Lieutenant, Junior Grade. It is recommended for level 3, needs only warp 1, and never sends your ship anywhere. The reward is 400 Parsteel, and finishing it unlocks the next mission in the early storyline. It works as a short tutorial step that points new commanders at officer promotions.

Junior Grade objectives

There is one objective and no choice split:

  • Promote an Officer to Lieutenant, Junior Grade.

No system is named and no hostile is listed. Any officer counts, so pick one you already plan to use on your bridge and promote them. The mission completes as soon as the promotion goes through.

Where and what warp

Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, with no pickup system. The whole mission happens from your station’s officer screens.

The recommended level is 3, which matches the missions on either side of it.

Junior Grade rewards

The only reward is 400 Parsteel. Completing the mission also unlocks the next one in the chain.

Junior Grade in the early storyline

Junior Grade comes after The Art Dealer and before Gavolar’s Wager. All three are level 3 missions at warp 1.

Mission Recommended level Warp to complete Rewards
The Art Dealer 3 1 3 Next Gen Data shards plus Officer XP
Junior Grade 3 1 400 Parsteel
Gavolar’s Wager 3 1 20 Recruit Tokens, 15 Ship XP, 1 3 Minute Speed Up

The Art Dealer pays Officer XP and Next Gen Data shards just before this mission, while Gavolar’s Wager after it mixes recruit tokens with a small amount of Ship XP. Junior Grade is the Parsteel step between them.

Tips

Promote an officer you will keep using. The promotion is permanent progress for that officer, so there is no benefit in spending it on someone who will sit in reserve.

Once it is done, move straight on to Gavolar’s Wager, where you confront the Nausicaan bounty hunter Gavolar. For every other mission sorted by level, see the STFC mission guide.
