A Familiar Face is a Romulan-side mission that sends you after a Vulcan base behind a run of raids on Romulan colonies. It picks up at warp 1 and pushes out to warp 80, moves through three systems, asks for a one-million Dilithium donation partway through, and pays out Refined Crystal along with a single Ion Particle. It is short and light on combat, with only one fight at the end.
The mission continues automatically from the story that comes before it, so you will usually find it already active in your log rather than needing to pick it up from a giver. That makes it easy to miss between bigger objectives, but it is quick to clear once you know the route and have the Dilithium ready.
A Familiar Face objectives
The mission runs in a fixed order, with two meetings, a donation, and a single fight before you head home:
- Meet with Ranelia, in the Esto system.
- Meet with Ranelia’s informant, in Ami Bera.
- Donate 1,000,000 Dilithium for information.
- Investigate the Vulcan base, in Vita Nova.
- Defeat the Vulcan guard at the base, again in Vita Nova. The guard is a Vulcan Explorer with a power rating near 1,950,820.
- Return the data to your station to close out the mission.
There is no choice split here. Every player runs the same six steps in the same sequence.
Where and what warp
You start the mission from your station at warp 1, so reaching Ranelia costs almost nothing. The two meetings play out in Esto and Ami Bera, both level 43 Romulan systems, before the trail leads to the Vulcan base. The base itself sits in Vita Nova, a level 43 neutral system, and that is your warp-80 endpoint. If your ship can make warp 80, it can reach every stop in this mission, so the warp requirement is really about unlocking that final jump rather than the early meetings.
Because the objectives are travel steps into named systems, there is no hunting for a roaming target. Each waypoint drops you exactly where you need to be, and the only spot that asks for a capable ship is Vita Nova.
A Familiar Face rewards
Finishing A Familiar Face pays out:
Completing the mission also unlocks the next step in its chain, so the reward here is really the Crystal, the Ion Particle, and the progress toward what comes after.
Tips
Two things are worth planning for. The first is the donation: you hand over 1,000,000 Dilithium to Ranelia’s informant, so stockpile that much before you start rather than getting stuck mid-mission waiting on a mining run. The second is the fight in Vita Nova. The Vulcan Explorer guard sits close to 1.95 million power, so bring a warship and crew that can clear a target of that size in one pass instead of a hauler or a survey ship.
Beyond that, the route is friendly. The meetings in Esto and Ami Bera are travel-only steps with no combat, and the return leg just sends your ship back to station. A Familiar Face slots between Due Process before it and Change of Heart after it, so if you are working the chain in order, line up the next mission once the data is delivered.
