Versions is an early station mission in Star Trek Fleet Command with one job: upgrade your Operations building to level 5. It starts and finishes at warp 1, has a recommended level of 5, and involves no travel or combat. The reward is 1,750 Parsteel, and finishing it unlocks Calibrating the Targeting Sensors. It is one of the first missions a new station clears, and it pays well for how little it asks.

Versions objectives

The mission’s story line is simply the instruction to upgrade Operations to level 5, and there is one objective with no choice split:

  • Upgrade Operations to Level 5.

No system is named, no hostile appears and nothing is donated. The mission clears when Operations reaches level 5.

Where and what warp

Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, with no pickup system. Everything happens on your station.

The recommended level is 5, which lines up with the Operations level the mission asks for. In practice the upgrade is the only gate.

What Operations 5 costs

Current game data lists the Operations level 5 upgrade at 400 Parsteel, with an unboosted build time of 15 minutes. The only requirement is Parsteel Warehouse 4.

That makes the 1,750 Parsteel reward more than four times the cost of the upgrade itself. It also covers Operations 6, which costs 1,000 Parsteel and needs Drydock B 1.

Operations levels also raise the Weapon Damage of all your ships, and at level 5 the bonus reaches 5%.

Parsteel 1,750

Completing Versions unlocks the next mission, Calibrating the Targeting Sensors.

Versions and the other Operations 5 mission

Versions is not the only mission tied to Operations 5. The station sequence also has Upgrade Operations to Level 5, with the same objective and a different reward.

Mission Recommended level Reward
Versions 5 1,750 Parsteel
Upgrade Operations to Level 5 1 75 Tritanium, 1 × 1 Minute Repair Speed Up

Versions pays in Parsteel, which is what early Operations levels cost. The other mission pays Tritanium, which the building starts to ask for at level 7.

Early Operations costs at a glance

Operations level Cost Build time Requirement
4 125 Parsteel 7m 30s Parsteel Warehouse 3, Parsteel Generator B 2
5 400 Parsteel 15m Parsteel Warehouse 4
6 1,000 Parsteel 30m Drydock B 1
7 2,000 Parsteel, 70 Tritanium 2h Shipyard 6, Tritanium Warehouse 3

Tips

Upgrade Parsteel Warehouse 4 first. It is the one requirement for Operations 5, and without it the mission cannot progress.

Put the 1,750 Parsteel straight into Operations 6. The reward covers that upgrade on its own, which keeps the early station moving without waiting on generators.

Plan for Tritanium from level 7. Operations 7 is the first level that asks for it, 70 Tritanium alongside 2,000 Parsteel, and it also needs Shipyard 6 and Tritanium Warehouse 3, so start those buildings early.

Later Operations missions are listed on the mission guide.
