Station Research

Station research is the economy and quality-of-life branch of the Star Trek Fleet Command research tree. It does not raise your ship stats for a fight, it makes your whole base run cheaper and faster, which is what keeps ships in the field instead of parked for repairs. This page lists every station research with what it does, the Operations level it unlocks at, the number of levels, the cost to max, the research time, and prerequisites.

What Station research does

The branch breaks into a few jobs. Cost-efficiency research (repair costs, component costs, build costs) is the highest-value work in the tree because it pays itself back on everything you do afterward, so push the repair-cost lines like Prime Repair Costs early. Repair-speed research, split by hull type, keeps your fleet active and pairs well with the cost lines. Construction and build-speed research compounds across every building you ever upgrade, so it is never wasted. Resource protection for Dilithium, Parsteel, and the condensed Sigma resources matters if you get raided on an active server, and station defense and defense-platform damage matter only if you actually defend your base rather than shield up. Ship and base XP lines are a slow background boost. If you are unsure, take cost efficiency first, then repair and build speed.

All 209 research projects, sorted by unlock level (most projects gate on your R&D Department; some use Operations or another building). Cost to max is the full resource total across every level. Research time is the base time before your research-speed bonuses, which cut it heavily in play, so treat it as a relative gauge between projects rather than a real-world clock.
