Anomaly Samples are the resource at the end of the Voyager loop in Star Trek Fleet Command. They are mined in Voyager Space, a pocket of the Delta Quadrant you can only enter with Voyager Travel Tokens, and they exchange for some of the best ship-part payouts in the mid-to-late game. One disambiguation before anything else: Anomaly Samples have nothing to do with Galactic Anomalies, the temporary system modifiers Update 92 added to Territory space in June 2026. Same word, different features.
Why you need anomaly samples
The anomaly sample exchanges, on 5-day and 7-day cooldowns, pay out U.S.S. Voyager ship parts plus 4★ and 5★ parts for the ships that carry this stretch of the game: the Amalgam, the U.S.S. Cerritos, the Franklin-A, and the D’Vor Feesha. They also pay Circuitry Fragments, with a chance of Isolytic artifact shards on top. If any of those ships is your current bottleneck, this loop is where the parts come from.
The Voyager loop, in order
Anomaly samples sit at the end of a chain, and each link gates the next:
- Hunt Hirogen hostiles for relics; refine them for Deuterium Canisters (this is also where Voyager blueprints come from, starting at Ops 30).
- Use Deuterium Canisters to reveal Species 8472 hostiles, and kill them for Exotic Biotoxins.
- Refine Exotic Biotoxins into Voyager Travel Tokens.
- Spend travel tokens to enter Voyager Space and mine Common and Rare Anomaly Samples.
- Feed the samples into the 5-day and 7-day exchanges for ship parts and rewards.
The cooldowns are the real throttle. You do not need to mine samples around the clock; you need enough banked that the exchange is never sitting ready while you are empty.
Where to mine anomaly samples
Voyager Space is made up of the FSEP systems, reached by travel token rather than warp range:
System
---
FSEP-001
FSEP-247
FSEP-505
FSEP-3819
Best crews to mine anomaly samples
The right crew depends on one question: on your server, are miners sitting over their protected cargo fair game? (Players call this an OPC hit, for over protected cargo. Check your server rules of engagement.)
- If OPC hits are allowed: crew full protection. Joaquin as captain with T’Pring and One of Eleven keeps the most cargo safe while you sit on a node.
- If miners are safe on your server: crew for output instead. Go full mining speed (Ten of Eleven and friends) or max cargo, whichever bottleneck you care about more: speed fills the exchange faster, cargo means fewer trips through the travel-token gate.
- Either way, put Tuvok below decks. His below decks ability increases cargo size, which matters double here because every entry into Voyager Space costs tokens; a bigger hold per trip is banked tokens.
Best ship for anomaly samples
The U.S.S. Voyager anchors the whole loop: its blueprints drop from the Hirogen relic refines from Ops 30, it builds at Ops 34, and the loop’s payouts feed its upgrades in turn. Bring your Voyager or a strong survey for the sample mining itself, and a hostile crew for the Hirogen and Species 8472 stages, since most of the loop’s time is spent shooting rather than mining.
Anomaly samples FAQ
Are Anomaly Samples related to Galactic Anomalies?
No. Galactic Anomalies are temporary system-wide modifiers in Territory Capture space, added in Update 92 (June 2026). Anomaly Samples are a mineable resource from the 2023 Voyager arc. The names are similar; the features never touch.
How do I get Voyager Travel Tokens?
Kill Species 8472 hostiles for Exotic Biotoxins and refine those into tokens. Revealing Species 8472 in the first place takes Deuterium Canisters from Hirogen relic refines.
What is the difference between Common and Rare Anomaly Samples?
Rarity gates the exchanges: the richer bundles ask for Rare samples. Check both exchange tabs before a mining trip so you farm the type you actually need.
When should I start the loop?
Hirogen hunting pays from Ops 30, when Voyager blueprints enter the relic refine. The full loop through Voyager Space matters most from Ops 34+, once the Voyager is buildable and the 4★/5★ part exchanges line up with the ships you own.
