Expertise is a level 57 main storyline mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you start gathering a crew of experts to build the device. You find a researcher in Ezla, defeat the researcher’s guard and bring the researcher to VESTA in Zytallis. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 205 to complete. The reward is 9,000,000 Dilithium and 500 Premium Recruit Tokens, and finishing it unlocks All We Need Within Us. The guard fight at about 28.5 million strength is the part to plan for.

Expertise objectives

There are three objectives in a fixed order and no choice split:

  • Find the researcher. Location: Ezla.
  • Defeat the researcher’s guard. Location: Ezla. Enemy strength is roughly 28,524,865.
  • Bring the researcher to VESTA. Location: Zytallis.

The fight happens in Ezla right after you find the researcher. The last step is the delivery to VESTA in Zytallis, which is where the warp 205 requirement comes from.

Where and what warp

You can accept Expertise at warp 1, but completing it needs warp 205. The recommended level is 57.

The game lists Independent Traders in Ezla at level 45 to 51. Zytallis is a harder system, with Assimilated Explorers, Interceptors and Battleships at level 50 to 55. None of them are mission targets, but the Zytallis hostiles are worth avoiding on the delivery run if your ship took damage in Ezla.

Expertise rewards

Reward Amount
Dilithium 9,000,000
Premium Recruit Token 500

Completing it unlocks All We Need Within Us, where you look for a quantum engineer.

Expertise and its neighbours

Expertise sits between two other level 57 missions in the same part of the story. All three start at warp 1.

Mission Warp to complete Story Rewards
All Beginnings… 205 Claim the Progenitor data 15,500,000 Dilithium, 150 15 Hour Speed Ups, 2,500 Ship XP
Expertise 205 Gather a crew of experts to build the device 9,000,000 Dilithium, 500 Premium Recruit Tokens
All We Need Within Us 400 Find a quantum engineer 8,000,000 Dilithium, 500 Premium Recruit Tokens, 2,500 Ship XP

Expertise and All We Need Within Us both pay 500 Premium Recruit Tokens. The next mission almost doubles the warp you need, from 205 to 400, so check your range before you move on.

Tips

Bring your strongest combat ship. At about 28.5 million strength, the researcher’s guard is the only thing standing between you and the reward, and there is no easier path around it.

Plan the route around Zytallis. It is the warp 205 leg, and the Assimilated ships there are stronger than anything in Ezla.

The 500 Premium Recruit Tokens go toward officer recruitment, and the Dilithium is useful at any stage of the late game. The full story order is on the main storyline missions page, and other missions by level are on the mission guide.
