Astronautics is a level 9 station mission in Star Trek Fleet Command with one objective: construct the Astronautics Studio. It stays at warp 1 from start to finish. The story line says the studio lets you invest in discounts to Research. The reward is 2,500 Parsteel, which covers half the Parsteel cost of the building, and finishing it unlocks Refactor.
Astronautics objectives
One objective, no choice split:
- Construct the Astronautics Studio.
No system is named and no hostile is listed. The mission completes when the Astronautics Studio is built at your station.
Where and what warp
Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, with no pickup system. The whole mission happens on your station.
The recommended level is 9.
Astronautics rewards
The reward is 2,500 Parsteel. Completing it unlocks Refactor.
What the Astronautics Studio needs
| Level | Cost | Build time | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 5,000 Parsteel | 24s | Research: Unlock Astronautics 1 |
The building is placed after the Unlock Astronautics research, not after an Operations level, so if the studio will not appear, check your research first. Its buff is Research Cost Efficiency, which starts at level 2 with 3 percent and reaches 14 percent by level 10. Operations 10 also requires Astronautics Studio 5.
Missions before and after
| Mission | Recommended level | Warp to complete | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Galileo Seven (before) | 9 | 6 | 2,500 Parsteel, 50 Recruit Tokens |
| Astronautics | 9 | 1 | 2,500 Parsteel |
| Refactor (after) | 10 | 1 | 10,000 Parsteel |
Tips
Level the studio past 1 when you can. The research discount only starts at level 2, and you will need level 5 anyway before Operations 10.
The mission’s story line and the building’s own description point at different uses. The story talks about discounts to Research, which matches the buff; the in-game description adds that new ship hulls are researched and unlocked here before reaching the Shipyard.
The build takes 24 seconds at level 1, so this is one of the quickest missions in the early game.
