When You Stare Into the Void… is a level 59 story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you meet the three major factions and collect their reports. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 40 to complete, with stops at Romulus, Kronos and Sol. There is no fight and nothing to donate. The payout is 4,550,000,000 Parsteel, 3,000,000 Dilithium and 80 3 Hour Speed Ups, and finishing it unlocks the next mission in the chain. It is a short errand for a very large Parsteel reward.
When You Stare Into the Void… objectives
The story line asks you to meet with the major factions and receive their reports. There are three objectives, one in each faction’s home system, and no choice split:
- Meet with Rihala Caldar. Location: Romulus.
- Meet with Gorkon. Location: Kronos.
- Meet with the Enterprise. Location: Sol.
Every step is a meeting, so the whole mission is travel. You report to the Romulans first, then to Gorkon on the Klingon homeworld, and you finish in Sol with the Enterprise. No hostile is listed at any of the three stops.
Where and what warp
The mission starts at warp 1, so you can accept it from your station, and it needs warp 40 to complete. That range has to cover Romulus, Kronos and Sol in that order, since the objectives unlock one after another.
The recommended level is 59. For comparison, Taking Stock, the mission before it in the chain, needs warp 205 to finish, so this one asks far less of your ship’s range.
When You Stare Into the Void… rewards
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Parsteel | 4,550,000,000 |
| Dilithium | 3,000,000 |
| 3 Hour Speed Up | 80 |
Completing the mission also unlocks the next part of the chain, … Something Stares Back.
How it compares with the missions around it
All three missions in this stretch of the story are recommended at level 59, but the travel and the payouts differ a lot.
Taking Stock, the mission before this one, pays 6,825,000,000 Parsteel, 500 Premium Recruit Tokens and 2,500 Ship XP, and it takes you out to warp 205. When You Stare Into the Void… pays less Parsteel but adds 3,000,000 Dilithium and the speed ups, and it only asks for warp 40. The next mission, … Something Stares Back, goes back to a warp 205 finish, so this is the lightest trip of the three.
If you are working through the chain for Parsteel, this mission and Taking Stock together bring in more than 11 billion.
Tips
Send whatever ship has the range. Because every objective is a meeting, combat stats do not matter here, and a ship you would not risk in a fight is a fine choice.
The 80 3 Hour Speed Ups add up to 240 hours of time off timers. At level 59 building and research timers run long, so they are worth saving for a big upgrade rather than spending on small ones.
Head straight into … Something Stares Back afterward if your ship can reach warp 205, since that is where the chain continues. Other missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
