Multitasking is an early station mission in Star Trek Fleet Command that asks you to build a second drydock so your station can maintain two ships at once. Its single objective is to construct Drydock B, it needs only warp 1, and it has a recommended level of 5. The reward is 4,000 Parsteel and a Relocation Token, and completing it unlocks the next mission. It is one of the more useful early missions because of what the building itself gives you.

Multitasking objectives

There is one objective and no choice split:

  • Construct Drydock B at the Station.

No system is named, no hostile is listed and nothing is donated. The mission clears when Drydock B is built.

Where and what warp

Warp 1 to start, warp 1 to complete, no pickup system. Everything happens on your station. The recommended level is 5, and the real requirement is the research that unlocks Drydock B.

What building Drydock B needs

Base values from the game’s building data, before any bonuses:

Level Cost Build time Requirement
1 3,000 Parsteel 30m Research Fleet Commander 1
2 3,250 Parsteel 3m Operations 7
3 3,500 Parsteel 4m 30s Operations 7

The first level of Drydock B is gated by the Fleet Commander research, not by Operations. Once that research is done, construction costs 3,000 Parsteel and takes 30 minutes at base speed. The 4,000 Parsteel reward more than pays for it.

The game describes each drydock as a slot for one ship, managed through Ship Management, and says every additional drydock increases the number of ships you can deploy. That is why this mission matters: a second drydock is a second ship in the field.

Multitasking rewards

Reward Amount
Parsteel 4,000
Relocation Token 1

Completing the mission also unlocks the next mission in the chain.

Other Drydock B missions

Mission Rewards
Multitasking 4,000 Parsteel, 1 Relocation Token
Construct Drydock B 120 Tritanium, 1 1 Minute Repair Speed Up
Upgrade Drydock B to Level 2 250 Tritanium, 3 1 Minute Repair Speed Up
Upgrade Drydock B to Level 3 260 Tritanium, 3 1 Minute Repair Speed Up

Multitasking pays far more than the building missions that follow Drydock B, mostly because of the Relocation Token.

Tips

Get the Fleet Commander research started early. It is the only thing between you and Drydock B, so queue it as soon as your research lab allows.

Level Drydock B soon after you build it. Levels 2 and 3 cost only a few thousand Parsteel each, take minutes, and each has its own small mission reward.

Think before you use the Relocation Token. It moves your station, and you may want to save it until you know which part of the map suits you for mining and hostiles.

This mission follows Corvette and leads into Brave New Worlds, which pays 230 Officer XP. The drydock family is covered on the Drydocks page.
