Space Age Prospector is an early Star Trek Fleet Command mission with a single job: mine for some Parsteel. The game lists a recommended level of 7, and both the start and the finish need only warp 1. Mine 100 Parsteel and the mission closes, paying 20 1★ Survey Parts and 30 Ship XP. There is no fight in it, so it is one of the easiest missions in the early storyline.
Space Age Prospector objectives
There is one objective, with no choice split and no second step:
- Mine 100 Parsteel.
No specific system is named, so any Parsteel node you can reach will do. Send a ship to a node, let it mine, and the objective completes once 100 Parsteel has been collected. Nothing here asks you to defeat a hostile or visit a set location.
Where and what warp
Warp 1 covers both taking the mission and finishing it, which is the floor. Range is never the obstacle, and no warp research is needed before you accept it. Any Parsteel node inside or next to your home territory is close enough.
The recommended level is 7. By that point most commanders have the ships and the space around their station to finish it in one trip.
Space Age Prospector rewards
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| 1★ Survey Parts | 20 |
| Ship XP | 30 |
Completing the mission moves the storyline on to What’s Past is Prologue.
The survey parts are the useful half. Ship parts are what the shipyard consumes when you build and upgrade hulls, and 1★ Survey Parts go into the earliest survey ships. The 30 Ship XP is small on its own, but it adds up across the early mission line.
Space Age Prospector and its neighbours
The Right Tools comes before this mission and What’s Past is Prologue follows. All three sit at level 7 and warp 1.
| Mission | Recommended level | Warp to complete | Objective | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Right Tools | 7 | 1 | Build the Fortunate | 4,000 Parsteel |
| Space Age Prospector | 7 | 1 | Mine 100 Parsteel | 20 1★ Survey Parts, 30 Ship XP |
| What’s Past is Prologue | 7 | 1 | Test the warp drive by going to a distant star | 5,000 Parsteel, 50 Premium Recruit Token, 15 1★ Battleship Parts, 1 Relocation Token |
Tips
Send a survey ship if you have one. Survey hulls are built for hauling resources and mine faster than combat ships, which are slow at a node.
Pick a node you can leave alone. Mining runs on a timer rather than on your attention, so you can send the ship out, close the game and come back to a finished objective.
Watch your cargo space. A ship stops filling once its hold is full, so check that it has room for 100 Parsteel before you send it rather than after.
Keep an eye on the ship while it mines. A ship parked on a node is exposed to attack, so choose a quiet spot away from rivals. Early systems are usually calm, but a damaged ship means dock time you did not plan for.
Spend the survey parts on the survey line. Twenty 1★ parts are worth the most in the survey hull that mines for you. Every other mission by level is on the mission guide.
