End of the Beginning is a main storyline mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you lead an assault on a Romulan base in Yvnys. The game lists a recommended level of 1, but it needs warp 65 and has two scripted fights at roughly 1.97 million strength each, plus 20 kills of level 40 or higher hostiles. It pays 64,380,000 Parsteel and seven 1 Day Speed Ups, a large Parsteel payout for a single mission.
End of the Beginning objectives
There are six objectives and no choice split:
- Launch the assault on the Romulan station. Location: Yvnys.
- Defeat 20 hostiles of Level 40 or higher.
- Defeat the Augur. Location: Yvnys. Enemy strength is roughly 1,969,977.
- Defeat the Gladius. Location: Yvnys. Enemy strength is roughly 1,969,977.
- Bombard the station. Location: Yvnys.
- Retreat to your Station.
Every objective with a location is in Yvnys. You open the assault there, then clear the kill count, then take on the two named ships. The Augur and the Gladius have the same listed strength, so neither is a softer target. Bombarding the station is the last step before you pull back home.
The kill count has no system attached. Any hostile of level 40 or higher counts, so you can clear it wherever your ship already farms, including in Yvnys itself while you are there for the assault.
Where and what warp
There is no pickup system, and the mission becomes available at warp 1. Completing it needs warp 65, which is the jump to Yvnys. Because everything happens in one system, this is a single trip out and a single trip home once the kill count is done.
The recommended level is listed as 1. The real requirement is a ship that can reach warp 65, win two fights at around 1.97 million, and grind 20 level 40 or higher hostiles along the way.
End of the Beginning rewards
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Parsteel | 64,380,000 |
| 1 Day Speed Up | 7 |
Completing the mission also unlocks the next mission in the chain.
How it fits in the chain
End of the Beginning follows Zero Sum Game, where you track down a Vulcan traitor at warp 85. The next step is Operations 42, a station mission with no travel at all.
| Mission | Warp to complete | Rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Zero Sum Game | 85 | 3,240,000 Tritanium, 38 15 Minute Repair Speed Up |
| End of the Beginning | 65 | 64,380,000 Parsteel, 7 1 Day Speed Up |
| Operations 42 | 1 | 70 each of 4★ Uncommon Refined Ore, Crystal and Gas |
The warp actually drops from 85 to 65 at this step, so if you cleared Zero Sum Game, reaching Yvnys is not the problem. The fights and the kill count are.
Tips
Clear the 20 hostiles first. The objective list asks for them before the Augur, so there is no point jumping to the named fights until the count is done. Pick the fastest level 40 or higher targets you can find.
Take the Augur and Gladius on with a fully repaired ship. They are the same strength, and fighting the second one on a damaged hull is where this mission tends to go wrong.
The seven 1 Day Speed Ups are worth saving for a long building or research timer. The 64 million Parsteel goes straight into upgrades. More missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
