Interlude is a main quest line mission in Star Trek Fleet Command, recommended for level 52. You regroup with VESTA in the Sigma Sector, then complete the Obviate Interceptors research. It needs only warp 1 to start but warp 205 to complete, which makes range the thing to plan for. The reward is 68,850,000 Tritanium plus ten 1M Dilithium Tokens, and finishing it unlocks the next part of the main quest line. For a two-objective mission, it pays well.

Interlude objectives

The story line is short: regroup with VESTA. There are two objectives and no choice split:

The first objective is travel. You fly out to the Sigma Sector to meet VESTA, and no fight is listed on the way. The second objective is a research task, so it clears when the Obviate Interceptors research is done rather than at any system.

Where and what warp

The mission becomes available at warp 1 but needs warp 205 to complete. That gap is the part to plan around: the Sigma Sector is where the first objective sends you, and your ship has to be able to make that trip.

The recommended level is 52. No pickup system is listed in the game data.

Interlude rewards

Reward Amount
Tritanium 68,850,000
1M Dilithium Token 10

Completing Interlude also unlocks the next part of the main quest line.

How Interlude compares with Optical Array

Interlude shares its warp 205 finish with Optical Array, another late-game mission. The two ask very different things of you.

Mission Recommended level Warp to start / complete Fights Headline reward
Interlude 52 1 / 205 None listed 68,850,000 Tritanium, 10 1M Dilithium Tokens
Optical Array 51 185 / 205 Borg ship at about 13.8 million 1,859,375,000 Parsteel, 500 Premium Recruit Tokens

Interlude has no listed hostile, while Optical Array asks you to disable a Borg ship in Sentosa. If your fleet has the range but not the firepower for that fight, Interlude is the easier of the two.

Tips

Check the research first. The second objective depends on Obviate Interceptors, so look at where that research stands and what it still needs before you fly out, so the mission does not stall on the second step after the trip is done.

Plan the trip, not the fight. With no hostile listed, the challenge is reaching the Sigma Sector at warp 205, so send a ship that can make the jump rather than your strongest combat hull.

The Dilithium arrives as tokens rather than as a flat amount, ten tokens of 1M each. The Tritanium payout is the larger line by far and suits a player in the middle of big station upgrades. Other missions at this level are listed on the mission guide.
