Into the Void is a station mission with nothing to fly to. The whole objective is a single build order: take the R&D Department to level 46. Warp 1 covers both accepting it and finishing it, and the payout is 6,500,000 Dilithium plus 39 4★ Uncommon Refined Gas and 11 4★ Rare Refined Gas. It follows A Light in the Darkness and opens The First Pillar.
Into the Void objectives
One objective, and it resolves at your own station.
- Upgrade the R&D Department to level 46. Location: your station.
There is no choice split, no combat, and no system to travel to. The mission clears the moment the upgrade completes, so the only thing between you and the reward is the build cost and the timer on it. If your R&D Department is already sitting at 46 when the mission lands in your log, expect it to close out immediately.
Where and what warp
Warp 1 to start, warp 1 to complete. Both numbers are that low because the mission never sends you off your own station, so warp research and ship range have no bearing on whether you can take it or finish it.
The live page flags this one as an auto link continuation mission, which is why there is no pickup location to hunt down. It chains on from the previous mission in the line rather than waiting at an NPC or a specific system, and it sits in your log until the R&D Department upgrade goes through.
Into the Void rewards
6,500,000 Dilithium, 39 4★ Uncommon Refined Gas, and 11 4★ Rare Refined Gas. Clearing it also opens The First Pillar.
The Dilithium is the reason to care. Six and a half million lands in one drop for a build you were probably going to do anyway, and the refined gas on top of it is a small bonus rather than the point of the mission. Nothing here is time limited, so a player who reaches this part of the line early can leave it parked until the R&D upgrade fits the rest of their build plan.
Tips
Start the upgrade and walk away. A level 46 R&D Department is a long build, and the mission has no other requirement, so queue it and spend the wait on mining, hostiles, or a second construction queue if you have one.
Check your R&D Department prerequisites before you assume the upgrade is available. Station buildings gate on other buildings and on your Operations level, and a blocked requirement is the usual reason this mission looks stuck when nothing is actually wrong with it.
Line up somewhere to put the Dilithium. Six and a half million arrives all at once, and it is worth knowing which research node or store purchase you want it to go into before the timer ends rather than letting it sit.
Bank the refined gas rather than spending it straight away. Fifty units of 4★ gas across two rarities is a modest amount on its own, but it stacks toward higher tier refining and ship work later in the line.
Treat this as a progression step, not a detour. Because the mission is chained between A Light in the Darkness and The First Pillar, leaving it unfinished stalls everything downstream of it, and the R&D Department level it asks for is one you need for research access regardless of the mission.
