Close Calls is a Star Trek Fleet Command mission about recovering a Progenitor artifact that was stolen from Toryn. The game lists a recommended level of 1, it starts at warp 1 and needs warp 8 to complete, and the route runs from Yridia to Nausicaa and back to your station. The reward is 2,000,000 Parsteel. The Corvallen ship fight at about 415,000 strength is what decides whether you are ready, not the listed level.
Close Calls objectives
There are four objectives and no choice split:
- Source information on Yridia. Location: Yridia.
- Find the agent around Nausicaa Prime. Location: Nausicaa.
- Disable the Corvallen Ship. Location: Nausicaa (enemy strength about 415,226).
- Return the artifact to the Station.
You pick up the trail in Yridia, then move to Nausicaa to find the agent. The Corvallen ship there is the only fight, and once it is disabled you bring the artifact home for Toryn.
Two of the four steps happen around Nausicaa, so the route is short: one stop in Yridia, one in Nausicaa for both the agent and the fight, then home. The artifact return has no system attached, which means the mission ends as soon as your ship is back at the station.
Where and what warp
The mission starts at warp 1 and needs warp 8 to finish. Yridia and Nausicaa are both low-warp systems, so range is not the problem here.
The recommended level is 1. A 415,000 strength enemy is far above what a level 1 ship can handle, so judge your readiness by that fight.
Close Calls rewards
The reward is 2,000,000 Parsteel. Completing it unlocks Buying Silence.
Compared with the missions around it
| Mission | Recommended level | Warp to complete | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bound Together (before) | 1 | 1 | 5,000,000 Parsteel, 800 Ultra Recruit Tokens |
| Close Calls | 1 | 8 | 2,000,000 Parsteel |
| Buying Silence (after) | 1 | 5 | 5,000,000 Parsteel, 400 3★ Survey Parts, 1 Relocation Token |
Close Calls pays the least of the three and is the only one with a listed fight. Its value is mostly that it opens Buying Silence, which pays more than double.
Tips
Send your strongest combat ship, not a survey or mining hull. The travel is short, but the Corvallen ship has about 415,000 strength, and a disable objective still means winning the battle.
Finding the agent and the Corvallen fight are listed as separate steps in the same system. Stay in Nausicaa after the first one rather than drifting off, since the fight follows straight on.
Repair before heading back to the station. The final step is only a return trip, but you will want the ship ready for Buying Silence straight after.
