What They Don’t Know… is a level 53 story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command about repairing relations with the USS Enterprise. It needs only warp 1 to start and to finish, but it asks you to beat two mercenaries at roughly 22.6 million and 26.1 million strength. The reward is a very large resource payout: 5,355,000,000 Parsteel, 10,500,000 Dilithium and 270 3 Hour Speed Ups.
What They Don’t Know… objectives
There are three objectives and no choice split:
- Meet with the Enterprise at your Station.
- Defeat the mercenary. Enemy strength is roughly 22,599,654.
- Defeat the second mercenary. Enemy strength is roughly 26,141,406.
The meeting happens at your own station, so the first objective is quick. The two mercenaries are the whole challenge, and the second is about 3.5 million strength tougher than the first. No system is named for either fight.
Where and what warp
Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete. Unlike the mission before it, which sends you out to warp 150, this one never asks for more than warp 1.
The recommended level is 53. The low warp figure does not make the mission easy: two fights above 22 million strength are the real requirement, and a ship that is not ready for them will not finish.
What They Don’t Know… rewards
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Parsteel | 5,355,000,000 |
| Dilithium | 10,500,000 |
| 3 Hour Speed Up | 270 |
Completing it unlocks Homebound.
Where it sits in the storyline
The mission comes after You Think You Know Me, in which you meet with Starfleet in Yarega and then disable one of two Federation ships. Current game data for the three missions in a row:
| Mission | Recommended level | Warp to complete | Fights | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| You Think You Know Me | 53 | 150 | USS Yosemite (about 22,599,654) or USS Yaruga (about 23,029,645) | 1 Deanna Troi shard, 12,500,000 Dilithium, 2,500 Ship XP |
| What They Don’t Know… | 53 | 1 | Two mercenaries, about 22,599,654 and 26,141,406 | 5,355,000,000 Parsteel, 10,500,000 Dilithium, 270 3 Hour Speed Ups |
| Homebound | 54 | 1 | None; upgrade Defense Technologies to 54 | 500 Premium Recruit Token, 18,750,000 Dilithium |
The first mercenary matches the USS Yosemite’s strength exactly, so if you took that path in You Think You Know Me, you have already beaten a ship this strong. The second mercenary is the step up.
Tips
Repair fully between the two fights. They come back to back, and the second mercenary is the harder of the two.
Put the speed ups to work. 270 3 Hour Speed Ups add up to 810 hours, a large chunk of time to spend on the long builds and research timers at level 53.
Plan for Homebound. The next mission asks for Defense Technologies 54, so the Parsteel from this mission can go straight toward that upgrade. Other missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
