Dereliction of Duty is a level 58 main storyline mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you defend the transistor at the Vacuum Epicenter. Two Starfleet ships, the USS Ahto and the USS Hawkins, come for the device, and you have to beat both before checking on the task force. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 205 to complete. The reward is six 1B Parsteel Tokens, 270 3 Hour Speed Ups and 2,500 Ship XP, and finishing it unlocks The End of Everything.
Dereliction of Duty objectives
There are four objectives, all in the same system, and no choice split:
- Defend the device. Location: Vacuum Epicenter.
- Defeat the USS Ahto. Location: Vacuum Epicenter. Enemy strength is roughly 38,273,024.
- Defeat the USS Hawkins. Location: Vacuum Epicenter. Enemy strength is roughly 42,125,741.
- Check on the task force. Location: Vacuum Epicenter.
The two fights come back to back, and the Hawkins is about 4 million strength tougher than the Ahto. The last step is a check-in with no enemy.
Where and what warp
You can accept Dereliction of Duty at warp 1, but the Vacuum Epicenter needs warp 205. The recommended level is 58.
The game lists Assimilated Explorers, Interceptors and Battleships in the Vacuum Epicenter at level 50 to 56. They are not mission targets.

Dereliction of Duty is the hardest fight of the three, and it leads into the biggest payout, including Picard shards.
Other missions at the Vacuum Epicenter
The Vacuum Epicenter hosts much of this late story, from And All the Stars Alight at level 50 through All Beginnings…, A Stark Revelation and … Something Stares Back at level 59. They all finish at warp 205.
Tips
Repair between the two ships if you can. Together they add up to over 80 million strength in consecutive fights, and the Hawkins is the stronger of the two.
The 270 3 Hour Speed Ups are worth 810 hours of build or research time, which is the reward to plan around. The full story order is on the main storyline missions page.
