Research & Building Missions

Research and Building missions are the station missions in Star Trek Fleet Command: 223 missions that complete when you construct or upgrade a building on your station, or build a new ship. Almost all of them run at warp 1 because nothing happens away from home, and only the eight latest carry a level recommendation, from level 51 to 59. Most rows in the table are building upgrade missions, and many of those link to the building’s own page, where an upgrade missions section lists each one with its reward. Rewards start at a handful of Tritanium and grow to 800 Ultra Recruit Tokens, 4★ ship parts and, for reaching Operations 51, more than a billion Dilithium.

How Research and Building missions work

Each mission has a single objective, such as upgrading Operations to the next level or building a specific ship, and it completes as soon as that upgrade or build finishes. There is no travel and no combat, so the only cost is the upgrade or build itself. That makes these missions a bonus on top of work you would do anyway.

The first missions you meet are the construct missions, twelve of them, which ask you to build the R&D Department, the Tritanium and Dilithium Warehouses, Drydocks B, C and D, Defense Platform B and extra Parsteel, Tritanium and Dilithium Generators. Construct the R&D Department is one every new station takes, since that building opens up research. From there the upgrade missions follow each building level by level. Operations has the most, 37 missions running from level 3 to Ascension, the Operations 51 mission. The R&D Department and the Shipyard have 35 each, and the drydocks have 20.

Seven missions are ship-building missions rather than building upgrades. These ask you to research a ship, collect its blueprints and build it in the Shipyard. The Orion Corvette leads to The ECS Fortunate, which leads to The Phindra; The Turas leads to The Talla. The Envoy and The Kehra complete the set. Collecting the blueprints is the slow part.

The Level column shows 1 for missions with no level recommendation, which is nearly all of them. The eight late missions at levels 51 to 59 cover later upgrades to the R&D Department, Defense Technologies, Shuttle Bay and Armada Control Center.

Research and Building rewards worth chasing

Ascension is the largest single payout: upgrading Operations to 51 pays 1.1 billion Dilithium and 200 5★ Uncommon Survey Parts. Among the level 40 to 49 missions, Tritanium Generator A Level 45 and Tritanium Warehouse Level 45 each pay 135 million Parsteel and 140 1M Parsteel Tokens, and Defense Technologies Level 44 pays 112.5 million Parsteel. Ship Hangar Level 49 and Drydock A Level 49 each pay 67.9 million Tritanium and 70 1M Tritanium Tokens. R&D Department Level 50 pays 230 100K Dilithium Tokens and 60 8 Hour Speed Ups.

The Shipyard missions from level 40 up pay 4★ ship parts for all four hull types. Shipyard Level 40 pays 600 each of 4★ Common Interceptor, Explorer, Battleship and Survey Parts, and Shipyard Level 49 pays 15 of each 4★ Rare part. For refined materials, Foundry Level 49, Engine Technology Lab Level 49 and Science Lab Level 49 each pay 15 4★ Epic Refined Ore, Crystal or Gas, and Refinery Level 45 pays a million each of 4★ Raw Crystal, Gas and Ore.

Recruit tokens come from the Academy missions, Academy Level 40 to Academy Level 45, at 800 to 1,000 Ultra Recruit Tokens each, and from every one of the eight level 51 to 59 missions, such as Armada Control Center Level 50, which pay 800 Ultra Recruit Tokens apiece.
