Upgrade Shipyard: Level 18

Upgrade Shipyard: Level 18 is a station mission in Star Trek Fleet Command with one objective: raise your Shipyard to level 18. It starts and finishes at warp 1, and the game lists a recommended level of 1, so the upgrade is the only real requirement. The reward is 6,000 Tritanium. It is a small bonus on top of an upgrade most players make anyway.

Upgrade Shipyard: Level 18 objectives

The mission text explains that upgrading the Shipyard gives you access to new and more powerful ships. There is a single objective and no choice split:

  • Upgrade Shipyard to Level 18.

No system, hostile or donation is involved. The mission clears when your Shipyard reaches level 18.

Where and what warp

Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, with no pickup system. The whole mission happens on your station.

The recommended level is listed as 1, but the mission only completes once Shipyard 18 is built, so the building is the gate.

Upgrade Shipyard: Level 18 rewards

The reward is 6,000 Tritanium.

In the game’s station mission chain, this one follows Upgrade R&D Department to Level 18, and completing it unlocks Upgrade Operations to Level 19.

How Level 18 compares with nearby steps

Each Shipyard level in this range has its own mission, and each pays only Tritanium. Current game data:

Mission Tritanium
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 14 2,500
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 15 3,000
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 16 4,000
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 17 5,000
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 18 6,000
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 19 12,000

The reward climbs by about 1,000 Tritanium per level through the mid-teens, then doubles at Level 19. Level 18 is the last of the small steps before that jump.

What the Shipyard gives you

Every Shipyard level raises two buffs: ship construction speed and tier-up speed for your ships. Current building data puts both at 24% at Shipyard 15 and 36% at Shipyard 20, so Level 18 sits partway between those anchors. Faster construction and tier-ups are the main reason to keep the Shipyard moving even when no new ship is waiting to be built.

The Shipyard also has requirements of its own. Shipyard 20 needs Operations 20, R&D Department 20 and Ship Hangar 15 before it can start, so it helps to keep those buildings level with it.

Tips

Follow the station mission chain in order. R&D Department 18, Shipyard 18 and Operations 19 come one after another, and working through them together keeps the Tritanium rewards flowing.

Put the Tritanium into the next upgrade. 6,000 covers the 4,250 Tritanium that Shipyard 20 asks for, with some to spare.
