Defense Technologies Level 44 is a station-building mission in Star Trek Fleet Command. Its only objective is to upgrade your Defense Technologies building to level 44. The recommended level is 1, it needs warp 1 to start and to complete, and it pays 112,500,000 Parsteel and 120 1M Parsteel Tokens. There is no travel and no fight. The reward is a bonus on top of an upgrade that costs billions, so plan the upgrade first and treat the mission as a rebate.
Defense Technologies Level 44 objectives
There is a single objective and no choice split:
- Upgrade to Defense Technologies Level 44.
The objective completes when the building reaches level 44. In the game data, Defense Technologies is the defense tech research facility, and each upgrade raises the Weapon Damage dealt by your Defense Platforms.
What the level 44 upgrade needs
The mission asks for nothing beyond the upgrade, but the upgrade is expensive. In the current building data, these are the base costs and requirements:

The building requirements are Operations 44, R&D Department 44 and Astronautics Studio 44. For comparison, level 43 costs about 6.22 billion Parsteel, 366 million Tritanium, 30,000 4★ Common Refined Gas and 5,000 4★ Uncommon Refined Gas, so level 44 is a clear step up on every line.

This mission happens entirely at your station. It needs warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, and no system is involved. The recommended level is 1.

What comes next
Academy Level 45 is another building mission. In the building data, Academy level 45 costs about 39.78 billion Parsteel, 5,000 4★ Uncommon Refined Ore and 3,200 4★ Rare Refined Ore, with Operations 45 as its requirement. The Parsteel from this mission is a start on that bill, but only a small one.
Tips
Line up the three prerequisites. Operations, R&D Department and Astronautics Studio all need to be at level 44, and any one of them lagging holds the whole upgrade back.
Stockpile 4★ refined gas. The 50,000 4★ Common and 7,000 4★ Uncommon Refined Gas are the lines most likely to need planning ahead, since they are not basic resources.
Keep the reward in proportion. 112.5 million Parsteel sounds large, but it is a little over 1% of the 9.33 billion Parsteel the upgrade itself costs. The value is real, but the mission does not pay for the upgrade.
