Upgrade Shipyard: Level 9 is a station mission in Star Trek Fleet Command that asks for one thing: raise the Shipyard to level 9. It starts and finishes at warp 1, the game lists a recommended level of 1, and there is nothing to fly to or fight. The reward is 350 Tritanium, and completing it unlocks Upgrade Tritanium Generator B to Level 5. It is a small, free payout for an upgrade that also speeds up every ship you build.
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 9 objectives
The story line tells you to upgrade the Shipyard to gain access to new and more powerful ships. There is a single objective and no choice split:
- Upgrade Shipyard to Level 9.
No system is named, no hostile is listed and nothing is donated. The mission clears as soon as the Shipyard finishes its level 9 upgrade.
Where and what warp
Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, with no pickup system. The mission lives entirely on your station.
The recommended level is listed as 1. What actually decides when you can finish it is the Shipyard upgrade itself and the buildings it depends on.
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 9 rewards
The only reward is 350 Tritanium. Completing the mission also unlocks the next station mission, Upgrade Tritanium Generator B to Level 5.
What Shipyard level 9 gives you
The Shipyard carries two bonuses that grow with each level: Ship Construction Speed, which speeds up building new ships, and Tier Up Speed, which speeds up upgrading the ships you have. Current building data lists both at 11% for level 8, 12% for level 9 and 14% for level 10.
The Shipyard itself is placed once Operations reaches level 5 and the R&D Department reaches level 4. The next milestone after this mission is level 10, which costs 150 Tritanium and 10,000 Parsteel with a build time of 3 hours and 20 minutes, and requires Operations 10 and R&D Department 10. The 350 Tritanium from this mission covers the Tritanium part of that bill more than twice over.
Where this mission sits in the station sequence
The mission before this one is Upgrade Drydock A: Level 7, which pays 1,600 Tritanium. After Shipyard 9 the sequence moves to the Tritanium Generator B mission, so the station missions alternate between ship buildings and resource buildings at this point.
How Level 9 compares with nearby Shipyard missions
| Mission | Tritanium reward |
|---|---|
| Upgrade Shipyard: Level 5 | 125 |
| Upgrade Shipyard: Level 6 | 150 |
| Upgrade Shipyard: Level 9 | 350 |
| Upgrade Shipyard: Level 10 | 500 |
| Upgrade Shipyard: Level 11 | 750 |
| Upgrade Shipyard: Level 13 | 1,500 |
The Shipyard missions pay only Tritanium at this stage, with no repair speed ups attached. The amount more than doubles between level 6 and level 9, and doubles again by level 11.
Tips
Do not wait on this one. A faster Shipyard shortens every ship build and tier-up you queue afterwards, so the mission reward is the smaller of the two gains.
Line up Operations 10 and R&D Department 10 while Shipyard 9 is building. Level 10 needs both, and having them ready keeps the Shipyard queue moving.
Keep the Tritanium. Early Tritanium is slow to generate, and the Shipyard level 10 upgrade is one of the first to ask for it. Other station missions are listed by level on the mission guide.
