Upgrade Shipyard to Level 2

Upgrade Shipyard to Level 2 is the first Shipyard upgrade mission in Star Trek Fleet Command. It asks you to take the Shipyard from level 1 to level 2, needs only warp 1 to start and finish, and the game lists a recommended level of 1. The reward is 50 Tritanium, and completing it unlocks Upgrade Shipyard: Level 3. The payout is small, but level 2 is also where the Shipyard’s construction and tier-up bonuses switch on.

Upgrade Shipyard to Level 2 objectives

The story line says to upgrade the Shipyard to gain access to new and more powerful ships. There is one objective and no choice split:

  • Upgrade Shipyard to Level 2.

No system is named, no hostile is listed and nothing is donated. The mission completes as soon as the Shipyard reaches level 2.

Where and what warp

Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, with no pickup system. The mission is entirely a station task.

The recommended level is listed as 1. The real prerequisite is having the Shipyard built in the first place, which in current game data needs Operations 5 and R&D Department 4.

Upgrade Shipyard to Level 2 rewards

The mission pays 50 Tritanium. Completing it also unlocks Upgrade Shipyard: Level 3.

The early Shipyard missions compared

The first Shipyard missions pay only Tritanium, rising by 25 per level. Current game data:

Mission Tritanium reward
Upgrade Shipyard to Level 2 50
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 3 75
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 4 100
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 5 125
Upgrade Shipyard: Level 6 150

Level 2 is the smallest reward in the run. The steady climb continues through level 6, and none of these missions add speed ups or other items.

Where it sits in the station chain

This mission comes straight after Upgrade R&D Department to Level 4, which pays 50 Tritanium and a 1 Minute Repair Speed Up. That order matches the building requirements: the Shipyard unlocks once the R&D Department reaches level 4.

After Level 2 comes Upgrade Shipyard: Level 3, and then the chain moves on to Construct Drydock B, the mission for your second drydock.

What Shipyard level 2 gives you

The Shipyard has two buffs, Ship Construction Speed and Tier Up Speed. Both become active at level 2, at 3% each, and reach 6% by level 5. Placing the Shipyard at level 1 costs 500 Parsteel and takes 3 minutes, so the first steps are quick.

Tips

Do this upgrade as soon as the Shipyard is placed. It turns on both Shipyard buffs, and the chain of station missions keeps moving while you build.

Keep Parsteel ready for the next few levels. Early Shipyard upgrades are paid in Parsteel, and the chain soon moves to Drydock B. More missions by level are on the mission guide.
