Discovery Arc

The Discovery Arc is the USS Discovery storyline in Star Trek Fleet Command, 79 missions that follow Harry Mudd, the VESTA system, a string of strange anomalies and the hunt for the Heralds. Recommended levels run from 2 up to 40, and warp to complete climbs from 1 in the opening missions to 80 in the hardest one. There are no officer shards here; the rewards are resources, and the level 40 missions pay out between 33 and 43 million Parsteel each.

How the Discovery Arc works

The arc falls into three bands. The early missions, recommended for levels 2 to 15, sit close to home: Muddied Vision and Old Acquaintances set you on Mudd’s trail at warp 1, and no single-level mission in this band needs more than warp 13. The middle band is 33 missions at levels 25 to 27, and about half of them need warp 20 to complete, with none above warp 25. The last band is ten level 40 missions with a big jump in range: warp 45 for Mixed Messages, warp 56 for three others, warp 70 for A New World, A Violent World and warp 80 for The Devil You Know.

Eight missions carry no level recommendation and show level 1 in the table. They still need warp 13 to 22, so treat them as mid-game missions.

A few missions come in several versions at different levels, and their rows show the full span. A Suffering Game, Only In Your Mind, Strange Bedfellows and The Least of Me each run from an early level up to 40. The Herald hunt is split the same way: Strike Three is a level 5 mission, Strike One… is level 26 and Strike Two… is level 40.

Many missions end in a choice, such as How Came I Here? and A Way Out. Their rows list what either path can pay, so a single run will not collect everything shown.

Discovery Arc rewards worth chasing

The level 40 missions are where the arc pays best. Out of Reach lists 42.9 million Parsteel and 1.3 million Dilithium at only warp 20, which makes it the easiest big payout in the arc. Strike Two… pays 38.4 million Parsteel, 1.1 million Dilithium and 800 Premium Recruit Tokens. One of Our Own lists 37.1 million Parsteel, 5.5 million Tritanium and 800 Ultra Recruit Tokens across its two paths, and Odd Shapes on the Horizon pays 33.8 million Parsteel with 995,000 Dilithium. No Strings, No Master needs only warp 5 and pays 2.9 million Tritanium, 413,000 Dilithium and 800 Premium Recruit Tokens.

For ship parts, A New World, A Violent World pays 700 3★ Interceptor Parts, and The Devil You Know lists 450 3★ Battleship Parts with three 1 Day Peace Shields. Mixed Messages and Only In Your Mind each list 400 4★ Common Explorer Parts. In the level 25 band, Origins of the End pays 320 3★ Battleship Parts, and A Bad Crowd and Caved In pay 250 each.

Early on, Signal Interrupted pays 500 Premium Recruit Tokens at level 14, a large token payout for that stage of the game.
