Excuses, Excuses is a level 12 Discovery storyline mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you explain your actions to the Orion Syndicate. You follow Dahno to Orion Prime, track a target to Rigel and disable a cargo vessel, then decide whether to let Daruul go or destroy the ship. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 10 to complete. Letting Daruul go pays Parsteel and Tritanium, while destroying the ship pays Dilithium and repair speed ups. Either way it unlocks Shifting Priorities.
Excuses, Excuses objectives
The first five objectives are the same for everyone:
- Return to your Station.
- Follow Dahno to Orion Prime. Location: Orion.
- Track the target to Rigel. Location: Rigel.
- Disable the cargo vessel. Location: Rigel. Enemy strength is roughly 2,935.
- Decide how to deal with the target.
If you let Daruul go
- Report back to Jakkon on Orion Prime. Location: Orion.
Rewards for this path: 7,000 Parsteel and 1,000 Tritanium.
If you destroy Daruul’s ship
- Destroy Daruul’s ship. Location: Rigel. Enemy strength is roughly 2,935.
- Report back to Jakkon on Orion Prime. Location: Orion.
Rewards for this path: 250 Dilithium and 11 5 Minute Repair Speed Ups.
The second path adds one more fight in Rigel before you report back. Both paths end with Jakkon on Orion Prime.
Where and what warp
You can accept Excuses, Excuses at warp 1, and warp 10 covers the trip between Orion and Rigel. The recommended level is 12.
The game lists Takret Militia and Orion Traitors in Orion at level 9 to 15, and Nausicaan Outlaws in Rigel at level 10 to 16. None of them are mission targets.
Excuses, Excuses rewards
| Reward | Let Daruul go | Destroy Daruul’s ship |

| Parsteel | 7,000 | None |
| Tritanium | 1,000 | None |
| Dilithium | None | 250 |
| 5 Minute Repair Speed Up | None | 11 |
Completing either path unlocks Shifting Priorities, where you take over a mining operation for the Syndicate.
Excuses, Excuses and its neighbours
| Mission | Recommended level | Warp to complete | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Let My People Go | 11 | 7 | 2 30 Minute Speed Ups, 600 Tritanium, 300 Ship XP |
| Excuses, Excuses | 12 | 10 | 7,000 Parsteel and 1,000 Tritanium, or 250 Dilithium and 11 5 Minute Repair Speed Ups |
| Shifting Priorities | 12 | 11 | 20 Recruit Tokens, 3 1 Hour Speed Ups |
Let My People Go is where you first investigate the Orion Syndicate operation with Saru, and Excuses, Excuses is the fallout from it.
Tips
Pick the path by what you are short of. At level 12, 7,000 Parsteel is usually the more useful reward. Dilithium is harder to come by early, though, and the eleven repair speed ups help if your ship spends a lot of time in the dock.
If you choose to destroy Daruul’s ship, repair after disabling the cargo vessel. You face a second ship of the same strength straight after.
The rest of the storyline is on the Discovery arc page.
