Seeing Double is a Discovery Arc 3 mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you follow the trail of chaos left by VESTA. This guide covers the version recommended for level 26. It can be picked up at warp 1 and needs warp 15 to complete, with stops in Kepler-018, Fastolf and Midnight and no combat. The one cost is a 350,000 Parsteel donation to repair your station’s defenses. The reward is 895,000 Parsteel, 132,000 Tritanium and 240 3★ Interceptor Parts, and completing it unlocks Grand Larceny.

Seeing Double objectives

The story line is “Follow VESTA’s path of chaos.” There are four objectives and no choice split:

  • Investigate the distress signal. Location: Kepler-018.
  • Investigate the security breach. Location: Fastolf.
  • Trace the signal. Location: Midnight.
  • Donate 350,000 Parsteel to repair the Station’s defenses.

The first three steps are travel. You answer a distress signal in Kepler-018, look into a security breach in Fastolf and then trace the signal to Midnight. There are no hostiles to defeat anywhere in the mission. The last step is a donation, which you can complete once you have 350,000 Parsteel on hand.

Where and what warp

You can accept Seeing Double at warp 1, but warp 15 is needed to complete it. Kepler-018, Fastolf and Midnight are the three systems on the route.

The recommended level for this version is 26. Seeing Double is one of the missions the game runs in separate versions for different level ranges, so the systems and the donation amount you see may differ if your account is well below or above level 26. The details on this page match the level 26 version.

Seeing Double rewards

Reward Amount
Parsteel 895,000
Tritanium 132,000
3★ Interceptor Parts 240

Completing Seeing Double also unlocks Grand Larceny.

The Parsteel reward is more than two and a half times the 350,000 you donate, so the mission leaves you 545,000 Parsteel ahead, plus the Tritanium and the interceptor parts.

Seeing Double at other levels

Seeing Double is offered in 4 versions, at recommended levels 2, 11, 26 and 40. The story is the same in each, but the objectives, systems, warp and rewards change with the version. The walkthrough above covers the level 26 version.

Recommended level Systems Warp to complete Rewards
2 No set system 1 20 Recruit Token, 100 Parsteel, 100 Officer XP
11 Zamam, Nilkino, Tova 8 350 Tritanium, 8,000 Parsteel
26 (this page) Kepler-018, Fastolf, Midnight 15 240 3★ Interceptor Parts, 132,000 Tritanium, 895,000 Parsteel
40 Vendor, Alatum, Yoruba 48 700 3★ Interceptor Parts, 29,703,000 Parsteel, 36 15 Minute Repair Speed Up

Tips

Line up the Parsteel before you set out. The donation is the final step, and having 350,000 ready means the mission closes as soon as you get back from Midnight.

Use any ship with warp 15. Since there is no combat, a survey or spare ship can handle the travel while your combat ships stay busy elsewhere.

The 240 3★ Interceptor Parts are the most targeted part of the reward. If an interceptor is your main ship at this level, they go straight into use.

If your mission details do not match this page, check your level. The level 26 version is the one described here, and the other versions use different systems and amounts. Grand Larceny is next in the storyline, and every other mission by level is on the mission guide.
