Spore of the Moment is a level 26 mission in the Discovery storyline of Star Trek Fleet Command. You investigate the strange link between the anomalies and the Mycelial network: collect 300 Mycelium, test how it reacts to the anomalies, then examine another anomaly in Netron Omega. It becomes available at warp 1 and needs warp 20 to complete, with no fights listed. The reward is 1,168,000 Parsteel and two 1 Day Speed Ups, which is a strong return for a mission this light.
Spore of the Moment objectives
There are three objectives and no choice split:
- Collect 300 Mycelium.
- Test the Mycellium reaction to the anomalies.
- Examine another anomaly. Location: Netron Omega.
The first objective is a collection task: gather 300 Mycelium. The current data does not tie it to a system, so it is the step to plan for. Once you have the Mycelium, you test its reaction to the anomalies, and the mission ends with one more anomaly to examine in Netron Omega.
No hostile is listed at any step.
Where and what warp
The mission becomes available at warp 1 and needs warp 20 to complete. Netron Omega is the only system named in the objectives. No pickup system is listed.
The recommended level is 26, the same as the mission before it.
Spore of the Moment rewards
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Parsteel | 1,168,000 |
| 1 Day Speed Up | 2 |
Completing the mission also unlocks the next part of the Discovery storyline.
Spore of the Moment and Uninvited Guests compared
The mission before this one, Uninvited Guests, sits at the same level and warp. The two split the Discovery investigation between them.
| Mission | Recommended level | Warp to complete | What you do | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Uninvited Guests | 26 | 20 | Refine the alien metal, meet an analyst in Fastolf, meet the USS Discovery in Netron Alpha | 180,000 Tritanium, 36,000 Dilithium, 1 Day Peace Shield |
| Spore of the Moment | 26 | 20 | Collect 300 Mycelium, test it on the anomalies, examine an anomaly in Netron Omega | 1,168,000 Parsteel, 2 1 Day Speed Ups |
Neither mission lists a fight. Uninvited Guests pays in Tritanium, Dilithium and a peace shield; Spore of the Moment pays in Parsteel and speed ups, with a larger headline number.
Tips
Start on the Mycelium early. The collection step is the one that sets the pace, and the test and the trip to Netron Omega both come after it.
Save the two 1 Day Speed Ups for your longest builds or research. Between them they cover 48 hours, which is the most valuable line in the reward for many players.
Any ship with warp 20 can reach Netron Omega. With no combat in the mission, keep your combat ships free for other work.
