Patience is a Virtue

Patience is a Virtue is an early story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command where you catch Mudd. The game lists a recommended level of 15. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 12 to complete. You investigate an energy pulse in Obilent, follow Maia’s directions to Medua, and capture Mudd, about 11,296 strength. The reward is 7,000 Parsteel, 3,000 Officer XP, 200 Dilithium and two 1 Hour Speed Ups.

Patience is a Virtue objectives

There are five objectives and no choice split:

  • Investigate the incredible energy pulse. Location: Obilent.
  • Follow Maia’s directions. Location: Medua.
  • Ambush Mudd. Location: Medua.
  • Capture Mudd. Location: Medua. Enemy strength is roughly 11,296.
  • Bring Mudd to your Station.

The mission starts with the energy pulse in Obilent. Maia then points you to Medua, where the rest of the action happens: you set up the ambush and then capture Mudd, the only fight. The last step brings Mudd back to your station.

Where and what warp

The mission is available from warp 1 and needs warp 12 to complete. Obilent and Medua are both neutral systems.

The recommended level is 15, and Mudd at about 11,296 strength is the step that tests it.

Patience is a Virtue at other levels

Patience is a Virtue is offered in 4 versions, at recommended levels 6, 15, 28 and 40. The story is the same in each, but the objectives, systems, warp and rewards change with the version. The walkthrough above covers the level 15 version.

Where it sits in the storyline

The mission before this one is Signal Interrupted, the all-out assault on the final Herald. A related mission is Dark Words. Current game data:

Mission Recommended level Warp to complete Main effort Rewards
Signal Interrupted 14 11 Klingon Invader of about 9,597, then Tanar, Warak and T’Kara, the strongest about 11,529 500 Premium Recruit Token, 10 2★ Common Refined Crystal, 23,000 Parsteel
Patience is a Virtue 15 12 Capture Mudd, about 11,296 7,000 Parsteel, 3,000 Officer XP, 200 Dilithium, 2 × 1 Hour Speed Up
Dark Words 1 18 Investigate a distress signal in Hann; no fights 12 × 30 Minute Speed Up, 5 3★ Uncommon Refined Crystal

Mudd is about as strong as T’Kara in Signal Interrupted, so a ship that won that assault can handle this capture. Signal Interrupted pays more overall, with 500 Premium Recruit Tokens, while Patience is a Virtue is a shorter mission with a single fight.

Tips

Bring a combat ship to Medua. The first three steps are travel and setup, but capturing Mudd is a real fight.

Use the Officer XP on whichever officer you are levelling. At this stage 3,000 Officer XP is a useful boost.

Look ahead to Dark Words, which needs warp 18, six more than this mission. If your ship only just reaches warp 12, start warp research now. Other missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
