The Federation is the defensive corner of Star Trek Fleet Command’s three core factions. Federation missions are handed out in Federation space: 112 of the 245 Federation systems offer missions, starting with Lorillia at level 18 and running all the way to level 80. The table further down lists every Federation mission system up to level 60, with the warp you need to reach it.
This page also covers how Federation reputation moves, the Federation faction locks and store, and every Federation ship, officer group and hostile covered on this wiki.
Federation space at a glance
Federation space holds 245 systems from level 17 to level 80. Most of it is deep space (175 systems), and 80 of the high-level systems are shared with the Klingons, the Romulans or both.
| System level | Federation systems | With missions | Warp range |
|---|---|---|---|
| 17 to 20 | 3 | 2 | 13 to 15 |
| 21 to 30 | 31 | 10 | 13 to 26 |
| 31 to 40 | 38 | 12 | 24 to 65 |
| 41 to 50 | 30 | 10 | 70 to 185 |
| 51 to 60 | 26 | 12 | 40 to 520 |
| 61 to 70 | 35 | 24 | 900 to 1,950 |
| 71 to 80 | 82 | 42 | 1,550 to 6,000 |
The warp figures show where the Federation gets expensive to reach. Up to level 40 almost everything sits within warp 65. From level 61 upward the lowest warp needed is 900.

Above level 60 there are 66 more Federation systems with missions, most of them in the shared high-level space. For missions grouped by level and story arc rather than by faction, the mission guide indexes the walkthroughs across every arc.
Mission choices matter for reputation. Siding against the Federation at the end of a story mission costs Federation points, so read the choice before you commit if you are building toward a lock.
How to earn Federation reputation
- Completing Federation missions
- Defeating opposing faction hostiles
- Faction-specific events
- Faction traders, which give large amounts of reputation for their level
- Faction daily missions, which also pay Federation Credits
Reputation drops when you attack or harm the Federation or its allies inside Federation space.
Let it fall below Tolerated and entering Federation space triggers a powerful hostile that attacks you as a trespasser, which is the practical reason to keep an eye on it.
Federation reputation locks
There are five Federation reputation locks. Once you pass one, your Federation standing can never fall below it again.
| Lock | Rank | Points |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | Respected | 10,000,000 |
| 2nd | Champion | 1,000,000,000 |
| 3rd | Legend | 15,000,000,000 |
| 4th | Hero | 500,000,000,000 |
| 5th | Prestige VI | 450,000,000,000,000 |
The faction reputation page has the full 35-tier ladder and how locking works across all three core factions.
The Federation faction store
Reputation unlocks progressively better stock, bought with Federation Credits:
- Ship blueprints
- Recruit tokens
- Raw resources
- Commendations, which some missions require
Buy Commendations only while the mission that needs them is on your active mission list. They are easy to waste otherwise.
Federation ships
Federation ships are built to last. Strong shields and hulls let them outlive opponents in long engagements, which suits an endurance playstyle rather than a burst one.
All 22 Federation ships on the wiki: Hijacked USS Mayflower Explorer, Jellyfish Explorer, U.S.S. Akira, U.S.S. Enterprise M414, U.S.S. Enterprise-E, U.S.S. Newgrange, U.S.S. Socrates, U.S.S. Stargazer, U.S.S. Titan, USS Antares Survey, USS Beatty Federation, USS Crozier Battleship, USS Enterprise A Explorer, USS Enterprise Explorer, USS Enterprise-D Explorer, USS Hydra Survey, USS Intrepid Battleship, USS Kelvin Interceptor, USS Mayflower Explorer, USS Newton Battleship, USS Northcutt Interceptor, USS Saladin Interceptor.
For every ship in the game side by side, see the ship guide.
Federation officers
The Federation has by far the deepest officer pool in the game, with well over a hundred Federation officers. The officers guide lists them all, with a Federation filter and a Federation officer table.
The dedicated Federation Officer Group is: WOK Carol Marcus, WOK Joachim, WOK Leonard McCoy, WOK Montgomery Scott STFC guide, WoK Saavik.
Federation hostiles
These are the Federation targets you will be grinding, whether for reputation against a rival faction or for their drops. All 24 on the wiki: Baelosian Cruiser, Baelosian Guardian, Baelosian Miner, Baelosian Spearhead, Federation Combat, Federation Elite Assassin, Federation Outpost, Federation Patrol, Federation Peacekeeper, Federation Scout, Federation Sentinel, Federation Starbase, Federation Supply Dock, Federation Trader, Federation Transport, Federation War Armada, Forsaken Cruiser, Forsaken Destroyer, Forsaken Dreadnought, Forsaken Scout, Section 31 Scout, Section 31 Troubleshooter, Starfleet Guard, Starfleet Recon.
The Federation hostiles page covers where each one spawns and what it drops.
Working with more than one faction
You can build all three, but gaining reputation with one usually costs you standing with another. Most commanders specialise until they hit a lock, then switch, because the lock protects everything earned so far.
The other two core factions are Klingon and Romulan, and the Orion Syndicate sits outside the three.
For the armada targets that move reputation fastest, see armada locations.
