USS Intrepid Battleship

The U.S.S. Intrepid is a grade 3 Rare Federation Battleship that unlocks at Shipyard level 32. It is built for hostile grinding: the Frontline Defender ability stacks Armor, Shield Deflection, and Dodge whenever the ship fights hostiles, while the activatable Relentless Assault adds a heavy burst of damage against hostiles and armadas. If you fly Federation and want a mid-game combat ship that survives return fire and still hits hard, the Intrepid earns its slot.

How to get the U.S.S. Intrepid

The Intrepid needs 120 blueprints and a Shipyard at level 32 before you can build it. Its blueprints come from the Federation faction store, and Warzone missions have handed out a single blueprint as well, so most of the 120 are bought with faction credits.

The build cost from the current game data is 4,500,000 Tritanium, 72,000 Dilithium, 625 3-star Common Refined Crystal, and 4,100 3-star Common Refined Ore. Construction takes 23 days at base, before any build-speed research or boosts. The Intrepid becomes scrappable once your station reaches Operations level 46, so it can later feed parts into higher-grade ships.

U.S.S. Intrepid ability

Frontline Defender is the Intrepid’s always-active ship ability. When the ship fights hostiles, it raises its own Armor, Shield Deflection, and Dodge. At ship level 1 the bonus is 40%, and it climbs to 130% at level 45, passing roughly 58% at level 10, 82% at level 22, and 118% at level 40 along the way.

That makes the Intrepid a tanky hostile hunter. The buff only applies against hostiles, so it does nothing in player-versus-player fights. Treat the ship as a PvE grinder that shrugs off return fire while you clear Klingon and other NPC targets.

U.S.S. Intrepid active ability

Relentless Assault is a separate, player-triggered ability with a cooldown, unlocked through a refit (covered below). It increases the Intrepid’s base Damage against hostiles and armadas. The bonus scales with tier, from 2000% at tier 9 up to 3000% at tier 18.

Because it is an activatable, you fire it during combat instead of leaning on it passively, and the cooldown shortens as the ship tiers up. Paired with Frontline Defender’s survivability, it lets the Intrepid soak hits and then land a large burst on tougher hostiles and armada targets.

Stats and tiers

Base values below come from the current game data; research, buffs, and officers raise them in play.

Tier Warp (speed / range) Impulse Cargo (protected) Shield HP Hull HP Health (displayed)
1 2.8 / 33 85 12,000 (250) 26,705 73,740 50,222.5
5 3.2 / 46 85 21,340 (310) 26,705 86,107 56,406
9 3.6 / 65 85 48,000 (500) 26,705 141,530 84,117.5

Shield HP holds steady across tiers while hull HP nearly doubles, which is why the Intrepid feels sturdier the higher you push it, especially with Frontline Defender running.

Weapons and firing pattern

Warm-up is the round a weapon first fires, and cool-down is how many rounds pass between shots after that. All three of the Intrepid’s guns are energy weapons. Values are at max tier 9.

Weapon Type Shots Warm-up Cool-down Damage Crit chance Crit damage
Disrupter Cannon Energy 1 1 1 15,850–19,374 10% 150%
Double Cannon Energy 1 2 1 19,021–23,248 10% 150%
High Charge Cannon Energy 1 3 1 19,021–23,248 10% 150%

The first cannon opens on round 1 and the other two stagger in over the next two rounds, so the Intrepid ramps into full damage by round 3 and holds it from there.

Crew slots and officer bonus

The Intrepid opens its first officer slot at ship level 5 and reaches a full seven slots at level 45.

Ship level Officer slots
5 1
10 2
20 3
30 4
35 5
40 6
45 7

The ship also boosts your officers’ stats as it progresses, stepping up the ladder below. On the Intrepid the attack, defense, and health bonuses are identical at each step, so one column covers all three.

200 30%
400 60%
650 90%
900 120%
1,200 150%

2,200 210%
3,000 240%
4,000 270%
6,000 300%

U.S.S. Intrepid refits

The Intrepid has two refits, both bought with ship shards. The first is what turns on its active ability.

Refit What it does
Intrepid Relentless Assault Unlocks the Relentless Assault active ability (base Damage against hostiles and armadas, 2000% at tier 9 up to 3000% at tier 18). Requires a level 32 Armory and 80 shards.
Hijacked TOS U.S.S. Intrepid Class Unlocks the Hijacked refit for 60 shards. Raises the Intrepid’s base Weapon Damage by 300% and the base cost efficiency of Intrepid parts, materials, and resources by 100%.

Crew for the U.S.S. Intrepid

The Intrepid is a PvE battleship, so crew it for hostile and armada damage rather than PvP mitigation. A captain that boosts weapon damage or critical hits gets the most out of Relentless Assault, and bridge officers that add attack or reinforce shields and hull let Frontline Defender’s tanking carry longer fights. For picks that fit your current roster, check the Officer Tier List. Crews shift with the meta, so treat any single lineup as a starting point.

The U.S.S. Intrepid in Star Trek

The Intrepid class first appears in Star Trek: Enterprise as an NX-era United Earth Starfleet vessel, a contemporary of Captain Archer’s Enterprise NX-01. It shows up during the Xindi crisis, backing the Enterprise as it pushes into the Delphic Expanse, and it is built for patrol and combat rather than deep exploration. Star Trek Fleet Command reuses the design as a Federation battleship and keeps that role in its own story: a short-range warship that defends Federation border colonies against Klingon raids.

Star Trek Fleet Command USS Intrepid

Is the U.S.S. Intrepid worth it?

For a grade 3 Rare, the Intrepid is a solid Federation hostile grinder. Frontline Defender keeps it alive against NPC fire and Relentless Assault gives it real burst against tougher hostiles and armadas, which is more utility than most ships in its band offer. It stays useful until higher-grade battleships replace it, and once you reach Operations level 46 you can scrap it for parts. Federation players who grind PvE should build it; PvP-focused commanders can pass.
