Federation Transport

The Federation Transport is a Federation hostile that roams Federation space from level 35 to 43. It only spawns as a Survey ship, which is the weakest hull in a fight, so almost any battle ship takes it down. It hands out Romulan and Klingon reputation points, plus Parsteel and Dilithium at the lower levels and 4★ Broken Survey Parts at the top. Attacking it does cost you Federation reputation, so weigh that before you farm it.

How to beat the Federation Transport

This hostile appears only as a Survey ship across its whole level range, so there is nothing to swap between levels. Survey hulls fight poorly, which makes the Federation Transport one of the softer targets in its band. Bring any combat ship you have ready: an Interceptor, Battleship, or Explorer all work, since a Survey target has no class advantage to punish you. Its listed defense is high, so a slow ship can drag the fight out over several rounds. Pick a ship whose weapons grind through defense and the kill comes quickly.

Watch the stat jump near the top of the range. At level 35 the transport carries about 185,000 hull and shield HP each, but by level 43 that climbs past 3 million on both bars while total strength rises to more than 6 million. A ship that clears the level 35 version in one salvo can stall against a level 43, so read the target level against your own ship power before you attack rather than assuming every transport is a quick kill.

For crew, run a captain that raises weapon damage against hostiles and fill the other seats with officers that add damage or mitigation. If you are near level 35, the classic cadet crew still clears it: Cadet Kirk in the captain’s chair with Cadet Spock and Cadet Uhura below. For current top picks, check the Officer Tier List. Crews move with the meta, so treat any named lineup as a starting point rather than a fixed answer.

Where to find the Federation Transport

The Federation Transport clusters in core Federation systems. At the low end it sits at warp 38, and from level 40 up it moves to warp 40. The early levels spread across a wide list of Federation space, while the highest levels narrow down hard: level 42 shows up only in Fibona and Groombridge 34, and level 43 only in Groombridge 34. If you want a specific level, head to the systems on its row and match your warp. Newer players will find the level 35 and 36 versions easy to reach around the starting Federation cluster of Babel, Barnard’s Star, Sirius, and Terra Nova.

Level Warp Systems
35 38 Babel, Barnard’s Star, Sirius, Terra Nova
36 38 Babel, Barnard’s Star, Fellebia, Fibona, Riktor, Sirius, Terra Nova
37–39 38 Alpha Centauri, Altair, Arcturus, Babel, Barnard’s Star, Bolarus, Fellebia, Fibona, Groombridge 34, Lakeside, Memory Alpha, Riktor, Sirius, Teneebia, Terra Nova, Vega
40 40 Alpha Centauri, Altair, Arcturus, Babel, Barnard’s Star, Bolarus, Fellebia, Fibona, Groombridge 34, Lakeside, Memory Alpha, Riktor, Teneebia, Terra Nova, Vega
41 40 Alpha Centauri, Altair, Arcturus, Babel, Barnard’s Star, Bolarus, Fibona, Groombridge 34, Lakeside, Memory Alpha, Teneebia, Terra Nova, Vega
42 40 Fibona, Groombridge 34
43 40 Groombridge 34

Rewards and what it drops

The Federation Transport is a reputation and resource target rather than a parts grind. Every kill pays out Romulan and Klingon reputation points. Levels 35 to 39 add Parsteel and Dilithium, and levels 40 to 43 swap those for 4★ Broken Survey Parts. Ship XP scales steeply with level, from 330 at level 35 up to 1,875 at level 43, so higher targets move your ship’s own experience along faster. One thing to note: attacking a Federation ship lowers your Federation reputation, shown as a Federation Points loss on the kill.

Drop What it is
Romulan Points Romulan faction reputation, used to buy from the Romulan faction store
Klingon Points Klingon faction reputation, used to buy from the Klingon faction store
Parsteel Basic building and upgrade resource (levels 35–39)
Dilithium Premium resource for research and ship upgrades (levels 35–39)
4★ Broken Survey Parts Refit material for tier-4 survey ships (levels 40–43)
Federation Points Federation reputation, which drops when you attack this ship

The Federation in Star Trek

The United Federation of Planets is the interstellar union at the center of Star Trek, founded in 2161 by Earth, Vulcan, Andoria, and Tellar after they set aside old rivalries. Governed from Earth and defended by Starfleet, it grew into a cooperative of scores of member worlds bound by shared law, science, and a commitment to peaceful exploration. Its transports are the unglamorous backbone of that reach: cargo and supply ships that keep colonies fed and starbases stocked. In Star Trek Fleet Command they appear as Survey hostiles moving through Federation space, standing in for the everyday logistics that hold the union together.

Is the Federation Transport worth grinding?

Yes, if you want Romulan or Klingon reputation and an easy kill. Because it only spawns as a Survey ship, it goes down fast for its level, and the lower band throws in handy Parsteel and Dilithium while the top band gives 4★ Broken Survey Parts. The catch is the Federation reputation you lose on each hit, so skip it if you are working Federation standing. Match your warp to the level you want and bring any battle ship.
