Starfleet Guard

The Starfleet Guard is a Federation battleship hostile that patrols Federation space from level 60 to 71. It appears only as a Battleship, so an Interceptor is the ship to bring. In-game it shows up in two forms that share the same stats and drops: the regular Starfleet Guard in normal Federation systems, and a hazard-zone version the game tags “Starfleet Guard HAZ” that spawns in deeper systems and reaches the highest levels. This guide covers both. It runs a self-healing shield ability that rewards a fast kill. Every wreck drops 6-star Broken Battleship Parts and Broken Survey Parts along with Romulan and Klingon reputation points, though destroying it costs you Federation reputation.

How to beat the Starfleet Guard

The Starfleet Guard spawns only as a Battleship, so there is no target to check and nothing to swap between levels. Battleships are countered by Interceptors, so bring an Interceptor and you get a large damage and mitigation edge that turns a slow grind into a quick kill.

This ship runs an always-active ability called Plausible Deniability, which recovers a share of its total shield health each round for the first five rounds of combat, scaling with level: 10% at levels 60 to 62, 15% at 63 to 65, and 20% at 66 to 71. A drawn-out fight lets it keep refilling its shields during that window, so favor high burst damage and a fast finish over a war of attrition. Its attack value climbs into the billions at the top of the range, so bring mitigation and repair capacity for the highest-level spawns.

For crew, put a captain that raises weapon damage against hostiles in the captain seat, then fill the other two seats with officers that add damage or boost mitigation. At level 60 and up you are well past starter crews, so lean on the current damage-dealing officers your roster can field. For up-to-date picks, check the Officer Tier List. Crews shift with the meta, so treat any named crew as a starting point rather than a permanent answer.

Where to find the Starfleet Guard

The Starfleet Guard clusters in Federation systems across the level 60 to 71 band. The lower levels sit at warp 900 and spread across the regular systems like Eranias, Lorraine, and Sigrun, which give you the most places to farm at the cheapest warp cost. The higher levels and the deeper systems, such as Kali, Olgon-9298, Shannon, and Tetra-pi out to warp 1500, are the hazard-zone “Starfleet Guard HAZ” spawns that carry the ship up to level 71. The table below lists every level with its warp cost and the systems where it appears, regular and hazard-zone spawns together.

60 900 Eranias, Euryodite-731, Lorraine, New Bombay, Sigrun

Rewards and what it drops

The main pull here is salvage: 6-star Broken Battleship Parts and 6-star Broken Survey Parts, used to build and upgrade battleships and survey ships. You also earn Romulan and Klingon reputation points on every kill. Plan around one catch: the Starfleet Guard is a Federation ship, so destroying it lowers your Federation reputation. If you are grinding Federation standing, this is not your target. The point payouts grow with level, so a level 71 kill returns more Romulan and Klingon reputation than a level 60 one.

Drop What it is
6-star Broken Battleship Parts Parts used to build and upgrade battleships
6-star Broken Survey Parts Parts used to build and upgrade survey ships
Romulan Points Reputation with the Romulan faction
Klingon Points Reputation with the Klingon faction
Federation Points Federation reputation, reduced rather than gained for killing this Federation ship

Ship XP scales with level, climbing from 16,000 at level 60 to 57,000 at level 71, so higher spawns are better for leveling a ship.

The Federation in Star Trek

The United Federation of Planets is the central interstellar government of Star Trek, formed in 2161 by Earth, Vulcan, Andoria, and Tellar Prime. Starfleet is its combined defense and exploration service, the branch that crews vessels like the Enterprise. Its charter puts diplomacy, science, and the non-interference of the Prime Directive ahead of conquest, and a Starfleet guard ship fits that defensive role, protecting Federation space rather than raiding beyond it. In Star Trek Fleet Command the Federation is one of the three founding factions you can align with, alongside the Klingons and Romulans.

Is the Starfleet Guard worth grinding?

It earns a spot if you need 6-star Broken Battleship or Survey Parts, or Romulan and Klingon points, and the high-level spawns hand out solid ship XP. Skip it if you are building Federation reputation, since every kill sets that back. Before you warp out, bring an Interceptor to counter the Battleship hull and match your warp range to the level you want to farm.
