USS Beatty Federation Ship

The U.S.S. Beatty is a grade 5 Rare Federation Survey ship built around one job: mining gas. Its Gas Mining Laser lifts your gas mining rate by a wide margin, and it carries a large protected cargo hold that keeps most of your haul safe if a raider hits you mid-run. You unlock the build at Shipyard level 58. If gas is your bottleneck at higher Operations levels, the Beatty is a dedicated workhorse worth the investment.

How to get the U.S.S. Beatty

The Beatty needs 350 blueprints and a Shipyard at level 58 before you can start the build. The build cost is 1,083,642,000,000 Tritanium, 26,255,250,000 Dilithium, 3,905 units of 5★ Common Refined Gas, and 2,210 units of 5★ Common Refined Ore, and the build itself takes 113 days and 8 hours. That timeline and resource bill put it firmly in late-game territory, so stockpile your refined materials before you commit.

Both refined materials come out of your refinery rather than a mine, so keep it processing well ahead of time. You cannot make up the 3,905 refined gas and 2,210 refined ore at the last minute, and the 113-day build clock only starts once every requirement is met.

U.S.S. Beatty ability

The ship ability is the Gas Mining Laser, which raises your gas mining rate. It starts at 420% at ship level 1 and climbs to 970% at level 60. Ship abilities are always active, so the bonus applies the whole time the Beatty is parked on a gas deposit. That scaling is the reason to level the ship: every ship level you add speeds up how fast it strips a gas node.

In practice a 420% bonus already more than quadruples your base gas rate, and by max level the Beatty pulls gas several times faster than a general survey ship. Its mining speed climbs alongside the ability, from 54.06 at Tier 1 to 97.02 at Tier 12, so a high-tier Beatty clears a large gas node in a fraction of the time a starter miner needs.

Stats and tiers

Base values from the current game data; research, buffs and officers raise them in play.

Tier Warp (speed / range) Impulse Cargo (protected) Shield HP Hull HP Health (displayed) Mining speed
Tier 1 4.2 / 425 100 4,200,000 (60,000) 1,117,650 1,412,350 1,265,000 54.06
Tier 6 5 / 685 100 5,937,500 (80,000) 1,679,798 2,122,724 1,901,261 87.89
Tier 12 6 / 975 100 8,125,000 (95,650) 2,699,779 3,411,653 3,055,716 97.02

The protected cargo figure is the part of your haul a successful attacker cannot take. On a miner that number matters more than raw hull, because it decides how much gas you keep when the run goes wrong. Warp range also grows with tier, from 425 at Tier 1 to 975 at Tier 12, which lets a higher-tier Beatty reach gas systems a low-tier miner cannot.

Weapons and firing pattern

Warm-up is the round a weapon first fires; cool-down is how many rounds pass between shots after that. The Beatty is a miner, not a warship, so it carries a single light energy weapon and will lose most fights it cannot warp away from.

Weapon Type Shots Warm-up Cool-down Damage Crit chance Crit damage
Main weapon Energy 2 1 1 186,778–226,961 10% 150%

The Beatty raises your officers’ attack, defense and health as it progresses, and those three bonuses move together on the same ladder, so one step lifts all three by the same amount. Each rung needs more total officer stat before it unlocks.

Crew for the U.S.S. Beatty

Because the Beatty is a survey ship, crew it for mining rather than combat. The bridge you want boosts gas mining rate, mining speed, or protected cargo so a raid cannot strip your full load. Combat officers do little here, since the ship’s own Gas Mining Laser already carries the mining bonus. Look for officers that raise mining rate, cut mining time, or increase protected cargo. An officer that hides more of your cargo turns a lost run into a survivable one, because attackers only take what sits outside the protected pool. For the current best mining officers, check the Officer Tier List, and keep in mind that the top picks shift as the meta moves.

The U.S.S. Beatty in Star Trek

The Beatty is largely a game-original design rather than a ship from the shows. Its background leans on the “boomer” freighter culture of the 22nd century, the Earth Cargo Service crews who spent their lives hauling goods between distant colonies aboard slow Y-class cargo ships. Star Trek: Enterprise introduced those ECS freighters and the families who lived aboard them. The game frames the Beatty as a descendant of that tradition, an old freight hull reworked for deep-space gas mining rather than a Starfleet vessel of record.

Is the U.S.S. Beatty worth it?

For players who have reached Shipyard 58 and lean on gas, the Beatty earns its slot. A gas mining bonus that reaches 970% and a large protected cargo hold make it one of the stronger dedicated gas miners in its grade band. It does nothing for combat, so treat it as a specialist you park on gas nodes and defend with your fleet, not with the ship itself. If gas is not your constraint, spend the resources elsewhere first.
