Combat Training is the long ladder of kill missions in Star Trek Fleet Command. It runs from step 1 to step 80, and every step has three tiers, Rookie, Soldier and Veteran, plus a single Legendary step at 60. That makes 241 Missionen in all. Each one asks you to defeat hostiles of a set level or higher, is picked up and completed at warp 1, and pays out Dilithium, recruit tokens, Officer XP, officer shards and, at the top end, ship parts and Σ-Dilithium. This page lists every step with its exact objective and rewards.
How Combat Training works
The missions test your ships against escalating hostiles. The objective is always a kill target. Rookie and Soldier steps ask for one or more hostiles at or above a set level, so any qualifying hostile you meet counts and you rarely need to travel far. Most Veteran steps are different: 73 of the 80 send you after one specific target, either a hostile captain or a named hostile at the step’s level, with its enemy strength listed.
Completing a tier unlocks the next one in the ladder, so the order is Rookie, then Soldier, then Veteran for each step before the next step opens. The rewards climb steeply: step 1 pays single-digit Dilithium, while the level 80 Veteran step pays 42,000 Σ-Dilithium and 7★ Seltene Explorer Parts.

Tips for Combat Training
Work the Rookie and Soldier tiers alongside your normal hostile grinding. Any hostile at or above the listed level counts, so kills you make for other reasons also progress the current step; check which tier is active before you head out.
Plan the Veteran steps separately. Their single named target carries a listed enemy strength that rises much faster than the Rookie and Soldier kill targets, so a Veteran step is usually where the ladder stops being automatic and needs a ship and crew built for that level.
The Legendary step at 60 asks for one hostile of level 65 or higher and pays 7,200,000,000 Dilithium, 2,400 Ultra Recruit Tokens and a Void Configuration, so it is worth planning for once your fleet reaches level 65 hostiles.
