Raw Ore is one of the three graded raw materials in Star Trek Fleet Command, alongside Gas und Kristall. Plenty of resources are refined — latinum und isogenite among them — but ore, gas, and crystal are the three that share the same star-grade pattern: you mine them in 2★, 3★, and 4★ grades and refine each into the common, uncommon, and rare materials your ships, station, and research consume. Unlike Parsteel oder tritanium, ore is useless in its raw state. This page covers where to mine each grade, how refining works, and the best crews and ships for the job.
Why you need ore
Refined ore is a building block for ship and station upgrades across the whole game. Raw ore comes in grades — 2★, 3★, and 4★ in normal space, and 5★ through 7★ in Territory Capture zones — and each grade refines into a better tier of material. You never spend raw ore directly; you refine it first, which is why your Raffinerie level gates how far your mining is worth.
How ore grades and refining work
Each grade of raw ore refines into a band of materials: 2★ ore into Gemeinsame and Uncommon, 3★ ore into Common, Uncommon, and Rare, and 4★ ore into the higher tiers. Refining unlocks by refinery level: 3★ materials at Refinery/Ops level 20, and 4★ materials at Refinery level 39. Mine the highest grade your refinery can actually process; mining 4★ ore before level 39 just stockpiles raw material you cannot use yet.
How to get ore
- Mining. The main source. Ore nodes carry a grade; match the grade to what your refinery can process. Systems below.
- Refining. Not a source of raw ore, but the required second step. Raw ore is inventory until it goes through the refinery.
- Daily goals and events. Mining events pay raw ore, and refining events pay the finished materials.
- Hostile loot. Some hostiles drop raw ore along with the rest of their loot.
Note that ore, unlike parsteel, tritanium, and Dilithium, cannot be raided from a station. It can only be taken from a loaded mining ship destroyed in space, so protection matters most while you are parked on a node.
G2-Erzstandorte
2★ raw ore, for early refining. Verified July 2026.

G3-Erzstandorte
3★ raw ore, refinable from Ops 20. Curated from the systems worth the trip; the warp figures climb with level.

Territory Capture zones also hold 3★ ore in low-warp systems (Adia Alpha, Otima Alpha and Beta, Qeyma Alpha, Temeri Alpha and Beta, Thaylen Alpha, Vemira Alpha), if your alliance controls the zone. The full Territory mine map lists them.
G4-Erzstandorte
4★ raw ore, refinable from Refinery level 39. These sit deep, so warp range is the real gate.

The highest grades in the game, 5★ through 7★ ore, are Territory Capture exclusives: 5★ and 6★ in Tier 2 and Tier 3 zones, and the only 7★ ore in the game in Qoda Beta. See the Territory mine map for the full list.
Beste Erzabbau-Crew
Ore crews split the same way every mining crew does, by whether your server allows OPC (over protected cargo) hits on parked miners.
- If OPC hits are allowed: crew for protection. Joaquin as captain with T'Pring und Einer von elf keeps the most cargo safe.
- If miners are safe: crew for speed. Kapitän: Stonn > Ore Miner – increases the ore mining rate of the ship, with Helvia und Einer von elf as a solid early bridge, or Zehn von elf once you have them. Fill the bridge with Surveyors & Miners Offiziere for the synergy bonus.
For current rankings, see the officer tier list.
Best Ships to Mine Ore
Faction survey ships are the ore specialists: the Vorta Vor und Valkis carry large ore mining bonuses, and any strong survey ship works when its cargo hold is bigger than the alternatives. As with every material, node size becomes the limit at higher grades, so bring your biggest hold.
Ore FAQ
What is the difference between the ore grades?
Higher grades refine into higher-tier materials. 2★ gives Common and Uncommon, 3★ adds Seltene, and 4★ and up feed the late-game tiers. Mine the highest grade your refinery level can process.
When can I refine 3★ and 4★ ore?
3★ materials refine from Refinery/Ops level 20, and 4★ from Refinery level 39. Below those levels the raw ore just sits in your inventory.
Where is the best ore in the game?
Territory Capture space, which holds the only 5★, 6★, and 7★ ore mines. In normal space, the level 40+ systems carry 4★ ore.
Can other players steal my ore?
Not from your station — raids only take parsteel, tritanium, and dilithium. Ore is only at risk on a loaded miner destroyed in space, so crew for protection when you park.
