Trellium is the Mirror Universe’s exclusive resource in Star Trek Fleet Command, and it comes in two raw forms: Trellium-A and Trellium-D. Both are mined inside Mirror Universe space (Ops 40+), both are useless until refined into Liquid Trellium, and the liquid forms are what upgrade Mirror Universe Offiziere and feed the Mirror Universe store and research. This page covers both types, how to get into the Mirror Universe at all, and the Omega Trellium layer on top.
Why you need trellium
Liquid Trellium-D is the upgrade currency for Mirror Universe officers, including Mirror Picard und Mirror Data, and it is spent across the Mirror Universe group and store. The trellium Raffinerie also pays out Mirror Dust, which drives the Mirror Universe research tree of roughly 70 nodes, including the Apex Barrier line that matters well beyond Mirror content. Higher up, Raw Omega Trellium refines into Liquid Omega Trellium and Omega Mirror Dust, plus Beryllium Spheres that upgrade the NSEA Protector itself.
Getting into the Mirror Universe
Trellium only exists on the other side, so the entry rules are half the guide. You need Ops 40 or higher and a ship with warp range 50+. Entry happens through Interphasic Rifts in Mirror Alpha Centauri, Mirror Wolf, and Mirror Sirius, and each ship you send through costs 300 Mirror Vouchers. Your ship gets a timer on the other side, 20 minutes at base, and traveling deeper than the entry regions takes Rift Keys.
The rule that costs players the most: there is no protected cargo in the Mirror Universe. Everything your miner is carrying is up for grabs if you are hit. Mine actively, empty your hold often, and treat every trip as a timed run rather than an overnight park.
How to get trellium
- Mining raw Trellium-A and Trellium-D. Raw trellium mines are scattered across the roughly 50 Mirror Universe systems. Richer nodes sit deeper, behind Rift Key travel.
- Terran hostiles. Mirror Universe hostiles drop raw trellium, so combat trips pay too.
- District 56. The Mirror Universe building includes a daily Liquid Trellium-D claim and extends your Mirror Universe timers. Build it early in your Mirror progression.
- Omega Trellium minefields. Fifteen minefield systems hold Raw Omega Trellium, and only the NSEA Protector can enter them. Their refinery runs on a 22-hour cooldown.
- Events. Mirror Universe arcs and events pay trellium and Mirror Dust directly.
Trellium mining locations
Verified July 2026. Trellium-A sits in the shallower half of the Mirror Universe and Trellium-D runs deeper, which fits the priority most players give it. Systems marked with a level 10 hazard damage ships without enough hazard mitigation, so check yours before committing a miner. The warp figures are steep by design; deeper travel is what Rift Keys are for. The 15 Omega Trellium minefield systems are separate from these and only open to the NSEA Protector.

Best ship for trellium
The NSEA Protector is the trellium ship: the best raw trellium miner in the game and the only ship that can enter the Omega Trellium minefields. It arrived with the Galaxy Quest crossover as an epic G4 explorer (Ops 40+), with blueprints from the Galaxy Quest Invasion event loop, and it upgrades with Beryllium Spheres from its own refinery. Officers from its crew, like Laliari, are built around it. Before you have the Protector, any strong survey ship can work raw Trellium-A and D nodes; you are simply slower and locked out of the minefields.
Trellium FAQ
What is the difference between Trellium-A and Trellium-D?
They are separate raw resources from separate mines, each refining into its own liquid form. Liquid Trellium-D is the one that upgrades Mirror Universe officers, which makes D the type most players chase first.
Can I mine trellium without the NSEA Protector?
Yes. Any survey ship can work raw Trellium-A and D mines once you can enter the Mirror Universe. The Protector mines faster and is the only way into the 15 Omega Trellium minefield systems.
Why did I lose my entire cargo?
The Mirror Universe has no protected cargo. Whatever you are carrying when destroyed is gone. Empty your hold often and do not linger past your timer’s comfort zone.
How do I get more time per trip?
Upgrade District 56, which extends Mirror Universe timers on top of its daily Liquid Trellium-D claim. Entry still costs 300 Mirror Vouchers per ship per trip.
