Business as Usual Arc

The Business as Usual Arc is a 24-mission storyline in Star Trek Fleet Command that follows the Starfleet cadet T’Pora from her rescue from the Orion Syndicate to a three-way conflict between the Federation, the Klingons and the Romulans in which you pick a side. The first ten missions are recommended for level 26 and the last fourteen for level 27, and the warp needed to complete them runs from 17 to 22. Rewards are Parsteel, Tritanium and Dilithium in the hundreds of thousands to millions, plus faction credits and 8,000 reputation points per mission once you have chosen a side.

How the Business as Usual Arc works

The arc is a run of single missions with no multi-part chains. The level 26 half is one line that everyone plays in order. Business as Usual sends you after T’Pora, then A Helping Hand and One More Round follow her training and her infiltration of Romulan space. From the Brink sets you against a Klingon Separatist ship, and The Inevitable deals with the Klingon backlash. I Once Was Blind…, …But Now I See, Here and There and Machinations carry the search for T’Pora, ending with a confrontation in Sufiday.

The split comes at What Comes Next…, where you meet a Klingon Commander in Talmir-86 and choose to back the Federation, the Klingons or the Romulans. Each level 27 mission serves one of those factions, listed here in unlock order where known:

• Federation: Fire and Fury, Knowledge as a Virtue, Doomed and Intention and Action, plus A Sense of Frustration
• Klingon: War Cries, By Any Means Necessary, To the Surface and Fear of Failure
• Romulan: Fuel to the Fire, A Change of Scenery, Fighting for Our Lives, From Every Angle and In an Instant…

The Romulan line tells one story from start to finish: Fuel to the Fire stirs up conflict between the Federation and the Klingons, A Change of Scenery has you take Starfleet scientists to Romulan space, and the last three missions hold off the response. On the Federation side, Fire and Fury defends Federation territory, Knowledge as a Virtue searches for the missing scientists, and Intention and Action ends in a confrontation with Sekula.

Every level 27 mission pays 8,000 points with the faction you are working for and takes points from the other two. Federation missions cost 7,776 Klingon and 1,728 Romulan points each, Klingon missions cost 6,912 Romulan and 2,592 Federation points, and Romulan missions cost 5,184 Federation and 3,456 Klingon points.

The fights across the arc sit close together, mostly around 200,000 strength. A few missions ask for a Dilithium payment instead: …But Now I See takes 35,000 and Intention and Action takes 85,000.

Business as Usual Arc rewards worth chasing

No mission in the arc pays officer shards or ship parts. The largest resource payouts are War Cries at 2.1 million Parsteel, A Sense of Frustration at 1.7 million Parsteel, Fuel to the Fire at 1.4 million Parsteel, and …But Now I See at 1.2 million Parsteel with 172,000 Tritanium. Knowledge as a Virtue pays 315,000 Tritanium, and Fire and Fury pays 60,000 Dilithium.

What Comes Next… pays 150 credits of the faction you back, along with 38,000 Dilithium on the Federation path, 1.3 million Parsteel on the Klingon path or 187,000 Tritanium on the Romulan path. Faction credits continue on each line: the Romulan line pays 160, 180 and 200 Romulan Credits across its last three missions, the Klingon line pays 160 and 180 Klingon Credits, and Intention and Action pays up to 180 Federation Credits.
