The Hunting the Hunter Arc is a short early-game storyline in Star Trek Fleet Command, five missions long, that has you help a Starfleet agent work a crime scene and then follow the trail to its end. The missions are recommended from level 2 to level 10, and every one of them can be finished at warp 1 except the last, which needs warp 5. Rewards are starter-sized: Parsteel, Officer XP, Recruit Tokens and a steady supply of 1★ ship parts, with Tritanium and Dilithium in the finale.
How the Hunting the Hunter Arc works
The arc is a straight line of five single missions, and each one unlocks the next. The recommended level rises by two with every step, from 2 on Hunting the Hunter to 10 on To Protect One’s Own, so it fits the first stretch of play.
Most of the work happens close to home. The opening mission escorts the agent one system out, asks for 10 kills at level 2 or higher, and ends with a fight against the witness’ ship in your home system. Filling in the Gaps is the only mission without combat: you mine 500 Parsteel, set it aside for an Independent trader, and get 700 back. Unwanted Guests brings Nausicaan mercenaries and their leader Murrg to your station, and Permanent Silence sends you along a trader’s warp trail before a grind of 15 hostiles at level 8 or higher.
The finale is the one mission with a choice. You pursue Asha and Uther to Fostaa, then either let them leave or take them into custody. Both paths include a single fight of about 1,903 strength and end with you moving your station, but they pay different rewards. This is also the one mission that needs warp 5 to complete, and the paths continue to Honsao or Donfo.
Hunting the Hunter Arc rewards worth chasing
No mission in the arc pays officer shards, so the value is in resources and parts for your first ships. Hunting the Hunter gives 19 1★ Battleship Parts, and Filling in the Gaps adds 140 1★ Explorer Parts on top of its Parsteel. Permanent Silence pays 40 Recruit Tokens, the most useful reward at that stage if you are still filling out your officer roster.
To Protect One’s Own is the largest payout. Letting Asha and Uther go pays 110 1★ Battleship Parts, 6 2★ Interceptor Parts and 320 Tritanium. Taking them into custody pays 90 Dilithium and six 15 Minute Repair Speed Ups instead. Pick the first path if you are upgrading ships and the second if you want Dilithium.
