A Rude Awakening is a five-part Star Trek Fleet Command mission chain in the TOS Arc 2 storyline. A Klingon strike on the Bor system pulls you into a fight that ends with Klingons attacking your own home system and you blowing up their mines. Every part is recommended for level 40, and three of the five need warp 48. The payout is ten TOS officer shards (Kirk, Uhura and Spock), over 7 million Tritanium, 619,000 Dilithium and 205,000 Officer XP. For a level 40 fleet that can handle 770,000-strength ships, it is an excellent return.

Tips for completing A Rude Awakening
Warp is the first thing to check. Parts 1, 4 and 5 all need warp 48 and Part 2 needs 39, so make sure your ship can reach Bor and Mempa before you start. Part 3 is the exception, since the Klingons come to your home system.
Part 1 is a gentle opener, but from Part 3 on every named ship sits between about 741,000 and 771,000 strength. Parts 3 and 5 each put two of those fights back to back, so go in fully repaired and keep repair speed-ups handy for the second battle. Part 4’s scout at about 747,676 comes after several evacuation trips, which gives you time to repair before it.
The 10 hostile kills in Part 2 accept any hostile of level 38 or higher in any system, so you can clear them near home before flying out to Mempa. Part 4 is mostly shuttle work between Bor and Elzbar, with one fight near the end, so the travel time adds up more than the combat.
The rewards are spread evenly: every part pays two TOS officer shards, so you make steady progress on Kirk, Uhura and Spock even if you have to pause between parts to upgrade. The Tritanium is back-loaded, with over 7 million arriving in Parts 4 and 5.
A Rude Awakening sits in TOS Arc 2 alongside the Doomsday and Take the Conn chains. It follows Doomsday Part 10, and once you finish Part 5 the story continues with the side mission The Road to Hell. The arc’s other side missions are All the Battles Past and All the Wars to Come. For every chain in order, see the mission guide.
Are the A Rude Awakening rewards worth it?
Yes. Four TOS Kirk shards, four TOS Uhura shards and two TOS Spock shards make this a strong chain for anyone building a TOS crew. The resource side is large too: 7,098,000 Tritanium across Parts 4 and 5, 619,000 Dilithium, 205,000 Officer XP and 300 Recruit Tokens. The cost is warp 48 travel and five fights in the 740,000 to 771,000 range, so bring a fleet that can take them before you commit.
