Protocol Origin: Picard

Protocol Origin: Picard is a five-part mission chain in which you and Trelane repair a timeline that has gone wrong around Jean-Luc Picard‘s Enterprise-D. The fix runs through William Riker‘s career: the Pegasus, the Potemkin, Nervala IV and finally the U.S.S. Hood. Every part is recommended for level 61 and starts at warp 1, but the warp needed to complete ranges from 47 up to 900. The chain begins with a trip to Sol. Rewards are mostly Σ resources, refined materials and parts, and Part 5 closes with Picard’s Earl Grey Tea Cup and 100 Class Honors. Plan around Part 2’s warp 900 and the Σ-resource payments.

Protocol Origin: Picard at a glance

Part Recommended level Warp to complete Key reward
Protocol Origin: Picard Part 1 61 47 350 Σ-Dilithium, 300 Federation Recruit Token
Protocol Origin: Picard Part 2 61 900 14,000 Σ-Parsteel

Protocol Origin: Picard Part 5 61 49 Picard’s Earl Grey Tea Cup, 5,000 Σ-Parsteel

Every part starts at warp 1, and completing one part opens the next.

Protocol Origin: Picard Part 1

The story line asks you to investigate why another timeline has diverged. Trelane’s Protocol Origin points to Sol, where the Enterprise-D is patrolling the Klingon border instead of exploring.

  • Track the source of instability, in Sol.
  • Contact the Enterprise, in Narendra.
  • Stop the Duras Separatist forces, in Narendra (enemy strength ~2,127,123,225).
  • Attend Troi’s lecture at Starfleet Academy Tellar Prime campus, in Tellar.
  • Return to your Station.

Warp to complete: 47. Rewards: 350 Σ-Dilithium, 130 6★ Common Refined Ore, 300 Federation Recruit Token.

Protocol Origin: Picard Part 2

This part is about sealing the fate of the U.S.S. Pegasus. In the correct timeline the ship’s cloaking experiment fails and Ensign Riker survives the mutiny, so here you have to make sure it goes wrong.

  • Follow U.S.S. Pegasus, in Solas Astra.
  • Supercharge the scanners with 350 Σ-Dilithium.
  • Locate Nervala IV outpost, in Nervala.
  • Return to the U.S.S. Pegasus, in Solas Astra.
  • Defeat 3 hostiles of Level 61 or higher.
  • Bypass Pegasus’s shields with 1000 Σ-Parsteel.
  • Return to your Station.

Warp to complete: 900. Rewards: 14,000 Σ-Parsteel, 600 6★ Common Refined Gas, 500 30 Minute Repair Speed Up.

Protocol Origin: Picard Part 3

Next you create the right conditions for Riker to invent a new maneuver while serving on the U.S.S. Potemkin. The enemy fleet he remembers evading is nowhere in sight, so you go looking for the Gorn forces.

  • Track U.S.S. Potemkin, in Xenris.
  • Locate the Gorn forces, in Nerokira.
  • Defeat 5 hostiles of Level 61 or higher.
  • Pass by the U.S.S. Potemkin, in Xenris.
  • Conceal your position with 1000 6★ Raw Gas.

Warp to complete: 700. Rewards: 2,300 Σ-Tritanium, 310 6★ Common Refined Crystal, 1,000,000 Ship XP.

Protocol Origin: Picard Part 4

Part 4 returns Lieutenant Thomas Riker to the Nervala IV outpost. The Riker traveling with you falls ill from the timeline instability, and the cure is to put him back where his history says he belongs.

  • Return to your Station.
  • Return T. Riker to Nervala IV, in Nervala.
  • Use 1000 6★ Raw Crystal to generate a graviton field.
  • Reach the Nervala IV outpost, in Nervala.

Warp to complete: 185. Rewards: 800 Σ-Dilithium, 62,000 6★ Broken Battleship Parts, 80 5 Minute Σ-Repair Speed Up.

Protocol Origin: Picard Part 5

The last part completes Riker’s path to the Enterprise-D. The event to restore is Riker refusing to let his captain beam down to a hostile Altair III, and the U.S.S. Hood is heading there now.

  • Find the U.S.S. Hood, in Teneebia.
  • Investigate Altair III, in Altair.
  • Deflect the Orion attack, in Altair (enemy strength ~2,113,383,600).
  • Retreat from Altair III, in Altair (enemy strength ~2,643,533,500).
  • Return to your Station.
  • Confirm Riker’s presence on Deneb IV, in Deneb.

Warp to complete: 49. Rewards: 5,000 Σ-Parsteel, 100 Class Honors, 1 Picard’s Earl Grey Tea Cup.

Tips for completing Protocol Origin: Picard

Parts 2 and 3 are the travel hurdles, at warp 900 and warp 700. Parts 1 and 5 need less than warp 50, so a ship that cannot reach the far systems yet can still finish those.

Several objectives cost Σ resources or 6★ materials: 350 Σ-Dilithium and 1000 Σ-Parsteel in Part 2, 1000 6★ Raw Gas in Part 3 and 1000 6★ Raw Crystal in Part 4. Check you have them before starting each part so the chain does not stall halfway.

Combat is spread out. Part 1 has one fight at about 2.1 billion strength, Parts 2 and 3 ask for three and five hostiles of level 61 or higher, and Part 5 has two fights back to back in Altair. The retreat from Altair III, at roughly 2,643,533,500 strength, is the toughest fight in the chain, so repair after deflecting the Orion attack.

Are the Protocol Origin: Picard rewards worth it?

For most players, yes. The Σ rewards add up to 19,000 Σ-Parsteel, 1,150 Σ-Dilithium and 2,300 Σ-Tritanium, and Part 3’s 1,000,000 Ship XP is a large boost. Part 5 adds Picard’s Earl Grey Tea Cup and 100 Class Honors. The costs are the warp 900 and 700 trips and several Σ and 6★ payments along the way.
