Orion Marauder

The Orion Marauder is a Neutral hostile in Star Trek Fleet Command that raids two separate level bands: a low band at levels 25 to 27 and a high band at levels 40 to 42. It spawns as a Battleship, an Explorer, or an Interceptor, so the ship you bring depends on the variant you hunt. Low-level kills drop Tritanium, and the level 40 to 42 versions drop 4-star broken ship parts. Bring the hull that counters the variant and match its warp.

How to beat the Orion Marauder

Orion Marauders show up as three hull types, so no single ship answers all of them. Combat runs on a rock-paper-scissors pattern: Interceptors beat Battleships, Battleships beat Explorers, and Explorers beat Interceptors. Survey ships barely fight, so leave them docked. Against the Battleship variant, bring an Interceptor. Against the Explorer variant, bring a Battleship. Against the Interceptor variant, bring an Explorer. If you match the counter class and have a level advantage, most kills are quick.

One habit saves repair time: check the target’s hull icon before you commit. Because the Marauder rotates between all three hull types across its levels, the right ship at one node can be the wrong ship at the next. The low band at levels 25 to 27 is forgiving, but the level 40 to 42 versions hit much harder, so bring a real level or gear advantage there rather than a bare counter. The Marauder fires energy weapons only, so shields and defensive research tuned against energy damage stretch your survivability in a longer fight.

For crew, put a captain that raises weapon damage against hostiles in the captain’s chair, then fill the other seats with officers that add damage or mitigation. If you are still working the level 25 to 27 band, the cadet crew handles it well: Cadet Kirk as captain with Cadet Spock and Cadet Uhura. For current top picks, check the Officer Tier List, since the strongest crews shift with the meta.

Where to find the Orion Marauder

The Orion Marauder clusters in two regions. The low band sits at levels 25 to 27 in Alnilam at warp 18, a handy stop for mid-game players. The high band jumps to levels 40 to 42 in Voluptas and Zhaishka at warp 24. Nothing spawns between level 27 and level 40, so match your warp range to the band you actually want. Both bands sit in neutral space rather than a faction’s territory, so you can farm them without touching your Federation, Klingon, or Romulan reputation. Plan the jump before you undock: a ship that cannot reach warp 24 will never make it to Voluptas or Zhaishka.

Level Warp Systems
25–27 18 Alnilam
40–42 24 Voluptas, Zhaishka

Rewards and what it drops

What the Orion Marauder drops depends on the level band. The low band pays Tritanium, a core building material. The high band drops 4-star broken ship parts for all three hull lines, used to build and upgrade tier-4 ships. Ship XP also climbs steeply with level, so the higher kills return far more ship experience per fight. Tritanium is one of the basic refined materials, so the low band doubles as a quick way to top up a common resource. The 4-star broken parts feed straight into building and upgrading tier-4 Explorers, Battleships, and Interceptors, which makes the high band worth farming once you are pushing into that ship tier.

Drop What it is
Tritanium (220–332) Core refined material for base and ship upgrades, dropped at levels 25–27
4★ Broken Explorer Parts (108–218) Build and upgrade material for tier-4 Explorers, dropped at levels 40–42
4★ Broken Battleship Parts (108–218) Build and upgrade material for tier-4 Battleships, dropped at levels 40–42
4★ Broken Interceptor Parts (108–218) Build and upgrade material for tier-4 Interceptors, dropped at levels 40–42

Orion Marauder firing pattern

The Orion Marauder fires energy weapons only. It carries three energy weapons that hit every round for 2,400 to 2,933 damage each, with a 10% chance to land a 1.5x critical. There are no charge-up rounds to plan around, so expect steady incoming fire and keep your mitigation and repairs ready across the whole fight.

Weapon type Count Damage per shot Fires Crit
Energy 3 2,400–2,933 Every round 10% (1.5x)

The Orions in Star Trek

The Orions are a green-skinned species from the planet Orion, known across Star Trek for piracy, smuggling, and the criminal network called the Orion Syndicate. They first appeared in the original series pilot “The Cage” in 1965 and returned throughout later shows, from Enterprise to Discovery. In canon, Orion crews raid shipping lanes and trade in contraband outside Federation and Klingon law alike. That outlaw reputation is why the game casts the Orion Marauder as an unaligned raider rather than a faction ship, hunting anyone who strays into its space.

Is the Orion Marauder worth grinding?

For most players, yes, within its bands. The level 25 to 27 version is a clean source of Tritanium while you build up your base. The level 40 to 42 version is better for 4-star broken parts and ship XP once your ships can handle warp 24. Match the hull you counter, match the warp, and it is a steady farm rather than a fight you need to prep for heavily.
