Khan’s Champion 5 – Nightmare

Khan’s Champion 5 – Nightmare is the hardest of the five Khan’s Champion missions in Star Trek Fleet Command. It has a recommended level of 70 and needs only warp 1 to start and to complete, because the Champion shows up close to your station. There is one fight, listed at about 4.1 trillion strength, and one follow-up step to log the battle report. The reward is 6,000 Hijacked Insignia, the largest payout in the series.

Khan’s Champion 5 – Nightmare objectives

Maia raises a red alert as soon as one of Khan’s Champions is detected near your station. There is no story beyond that and no choice split. The two objectives are:

  • Defeat Khan’s Champion (enemy strength ~4,097,140,029,197).
  • Log the Battle Report in your Station’s archives.

The second step is a formality: once the Champion is beaten, Maia suggests filing the report so your crew can study the enemy’s tactics later. The fight is the whole mission.

Where and what warp

Nightmare needs warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, and no system is named, so there is no travel to plan. The recommended level is 70. With so little else involved, the real requirement is a ship and crew that can beat a 4.1 trillion strength target.

Khan’s Champion 5 – Nightmare rewards

The mission pays a single reward: 6,000 Hijacked Insignia. Nothing else is listed, and there is no reputation change.

Khan’s Champion at every difficulty

The five Khan’s Champion missions share the same two objectives and warp 1 setup. Each step up raises the recommended level by ten and makes the Champion far stronger:

Mission Recommended level Enemy strength Hijacked Insignia
Khan’s Champion 1 – Cadet 30 ~3,888,922 500
Khan’s Champion 2 – Ensign 40 ~50,129,432 2,000
Khan’s Champion 3 – Captain 50 ~2,661,078,775 3,000
Khan’s Champion 4 – Warlord 60 ~74,100,651,309 4,000
Khan’s Champion 5 – Nightmare 70 ~4,097,140,029,197 6,000

The strength jump from Warlord to Nightmare is roughly 55 times, while the insignia reward rises only from 4,000 to 6,000. If you have not cleared the lower tiers yet, they pay 9,500 insignia between them for much easier fights.

Tips

Work up through the tiers in order. Each lower Champion is a fraction of Nightmare’s strength, and clearing them first banks most of the available insignia before you face the 4.1 trillion fight.

There is no warp cost, so the only preparation is the ship itself. Repair fully, pick your strongest combat crew and treat it like any other big hostile. Losing costs you repair time, not a trip across the galaxy.

If the fight is out of reach, the combat training missions are another set of warp 1 fights at level 70 with smaller targets. The Khan Noonien Singh officer page covers Khan himself, and the mission guide lists other missions by level.
