Wachtmeister Kati

Kati, the Augment weapons specialist

Kati is an Uncommon Science officer in Star Trek Fleet Command and one of the more focused members of Khan’s Crew. She has a single job: making your ship hit harder when you attack an enemy player station.

If you raid bases or wear down enemy Defense Platforms, Kati earns a bridge seat. If you mostly grind hostiles, mine, or run armadas, her abilities do nothing for you. This guide covers what she does, who she pairs with, and whether she is worth the shards.

Kati in Star Trek

Kati first appeared in the Original Series episode “Space Seed,” broadcast in 1967. She was a genetically engineered Augment from Earth’s late 20th century and a follower of Khan Noonien Singh, the most famous figure to come out of the Eugenics Wars.

When the Eugenics Wars turned against Khan and his people, they fled Earth in 1996 aboard the sleeper ship SS Botany Bay. The ship drifted for centuries until the USS Enterprise found it in 2267, its passengers still in suspended animation. Kati was among the Augments revived by Khan, and she took part in his attempt to seize control of the Enterprise. After that effort failed, she was exiled with Khan’s people to Ceti Alpha V.

On screen Kati was a background character with no dialogue, played by actress Kathy Ahart and credited only as “Crew Woman.” Star Trek Fleet Command gives her a fuller identity as a weapons expert among the Augments, which is where her in-game abilities come from. The game’s own profile describes her as the kind of fighter who could turn anything into a weapon, from blades to slingshots, and who relishes the chance to test new weapons technology against Khan’s enemies.

Kati’s role in STFC

Kati is a station-attack specialist. Both of her abilities trigger only when your target is an enemy player station or one of its Defense Platforms, which makes her a base-raiding officer and little else.

That focus is worth understanding before you invest. Against hostiles, against armada targets, or while mining, Kati adds nothing. Her value appears the moment you warp in to attack a station, and only then. Players who enjoy raiding will get steady use out of her. Players who stick to grinding and economy can pass on her without missing much.

As a Science-class officer, she also feeds class synergy into a crew, which matters more when you build a full Augment bridge rather than dropping her in alone.

Kati’s abilities

Captain ability: Hail of Fire

When Kati captains your ship, Hail of Fire checks your target at the start of every round. If that target is a Defense Platform, she raises your Critical Hit Chance for the round. As of the latest game Daten, that bonus sits at 4%.

Hail of Fire is a narrow effect. It applies only against Defense Platforms, not the station structure itself, so its usefulness depends entirely on the kind of base fights you take. Treat it as a small, situational opening boost rather than something that climbs neatly with every promotion. Most players run Kati as a bridge officer and hand the captain’s chair to an officer with a wider maneuver.

Officer ability: Enhanced Weaponry

Enhanced Weaponry is the reason to bring Kati. While she sits on the bridge and you attack a station, she increases your Critical Hit Damage. This is the bonus that turns a lucky critical hit into a real dent in an enemy base.

The bonus grows each time you promote her, climbing from 15% at Rank 1 to 40% at Rank 5. The table below reflects the current game data.

Rang Schadensbonus bei kritischen Treffern
1 15%
2 20%
3 25%
4 30%
5 40%

Enhanced Weaponry only affects critical hits, so Kati works best alongside Offiziere who raise your Critical Hit Chance. The more often you crit, the more often her damage bonus actually fires. On a crew built without any crit-chance support, she gives you far less.

Where Kati shines

Kati has one core use and a couple of situations where she becomes the obvious pick.

Her main home is raiding enemy player stations. Slot her on the bridge of whatever ship you raid with, pair her with officers who raise Critical Hit Chance, and her damage bonus does the rest. The harder and more often your ship crits, the more she gives back.

She also fits well early in the game. Kati is an Uncommon officer with a low shard cost, so a newer player who wants to start raiding bases can get her to a usable rank quickly, without the long grind a rare or epic officer demands.

Finally, she rounds out an Augment crew. If you are building toward a Khan’s Crew lineup, Kati slots in naturally and shares synergy with the rest of the group, which the next section covers.

How to get Kati

Kati is an Augment officer, so her shards come from content tied to the Augment faction and Khan’s storyline. In practice that means faction-themed Missionen and limited-time events.

Availability rotates, so the safe move is to check the current event schedule and faction store before you plan around her. Reaching Rank 1 takes 20 shards, and taking her all the way to Rank 5 costs 460 shards in total. The full per-rank breakdown is below.

Rang Shards to promote Running total
1 20 20
2 40 60
3 80 140
4 120 260
5 200 460

By Augment standards that is a cheap officer to max, which is part of what makes her friendly to earlier rosters.

Kati’s synergies

Kati belongs to the Khan’s Crew synergy group, which carries two kinds of synergy worth knowing.

The first is class synergy. When Kati shares a bridge with officers of the right class, the crew picks up small stat bonuses: 3% with Command officers, 3% with Engineering officers, and 2% with Science officers. Minor on their own, these add up across a full crew.

The second is her named synergy officers. Pairing Kati with any of these officers grants an extra synergy bonus, shown here as a percentage:

In practice, the standout pairing is Khan himself. A gemeinsame raiding crew puts Khan in the captain’s chair with Kati and Joachim on the bridge. Khan pushes your Critical Hit Chance up, and Kati turns those extra crits into bigger hits against the station. If you do not have Khan yet, an Augment bridge of Joachim, Otto, and Kati covers similar ground on an Interceptor or Battleship.

Frequently asked questions

Is Kati any good in STFC?

For her job, yes. If you raid player stations, Kati is a solid bridge officer who adds real Critical Hit Damage. Outside of station combat she does nothing, so whether she counts as good depends entirely on whether you raid bases.

Where do you get Kati shards?

Kati shards come through Augment faction content tied to Khan’s storyline, usually missions and limited-time events. Because that availability changes, check the current event schedule and faction store rather than counting on a fixed source.

What is the best crew for Kati?

The most reliable raiding crew pairs Kati with Khan as captain and another Augment such as Joachim on the bridge. Khan raises your Critical Hit Chance, and Kati raises the damage of each crit against the station. Without Khan, an all-Augment bridge still works.

Is Kati worth ranking up?

If you raid often, yes. At 460 shards to reach Rank 5 she is cheap by Augment standards, and her damage bonus jumps from 15% to 40% across those promotions. If you rarely attack stations, spend those shards elsewhere.

Does Kati help against hostiles or armadas?

No. Both of her abilities check for a station or a Defense Platform as the target. Against hostiles, against armada targets, or while mining, Kati provides no bonus at all.

Is Kati right for your roster?

Kati is a specialist, and that is the whole decision. If station raiding is part of how you play, she is an accessible, low-cost officer who pulls her weight on a crit-focused bridge. If you spend your time on hostiles, mining, and armadas, her abilities sit idle, and your shards are better spent on an officer who works where you actually fight.
