Borg Expansion Cubes in Star Trek Fleet Command spawn in six systems, one cube per system: Toz Raghli (level 38, warp 35), Lymari (42, warp 40), Lomosi (47, warp 80), Kej Bal (51, warp 80), Eabha (55, warp 160) and Suncroft (60, warp 205). The two lowest are Uncommon, the middle two Rare and the top two Epic. Every cube drops Vinculum Fragments, from 500 at level 38 up to 3,555 at level 60. You start the fight with Expansion Cube Directives, and it is built for the Vi’dar Talios carrying the Foreknowledge buff from a Borg Sphere.
Borg Expansion Cube locations
Each cube sits alone in its system, and the system level matches the cube level. The warp column is the range you need to reach the system. Plan your Vi’dar Talios route around warp more than level: Lomosi and Kej Bal share warp 80, but the jump to Eabha needs warp 160. If you are new to the loop, start at Toz Raghli: the level 35 spheres in Megnomis and Atraxi share its warp 35 range, so the whole routine fits in one short trip.
| Level | Rarity | System | Warp | Vinculum Fragments |

How the Expansion Cube fight works
Expansion Cubes are the next step of the Borg solo armada loop. You earn Expansion Cube Directives from Borg solo armadas, then spend them to launch a cube. The cube carries a ship ability called Gravimetric Torpedoes: it deals massive damage to any ship in its way, and the ability text tells you how to end it, by gaining the Foreknowledge buff from Borg Spheres and fighting with the Vi’dar Talios.
Foreknowledge comes from destroying a Borg Sphere, which drops the buff alongside its Borg Solo Armada Credits. The buff lasts one hour, does not stack, and destroying another sphere refreshes the timer. It applies whichever ship killed the sphere, so the usual routine is to clear a sphere in the same warp band, then fly straight to the cube.
Where to get Foreknowledge: Borg Sphere systems
Every Borg Sphere drops Foreknowledge. These are the sphere systems grouped by warp, with the sphere levels and rarities in each, so you can pair a sphere with the nearest cube.
| Sphere system | Warp | Sphere levels |
|---|---|---|
| Megnomis, Atraxi | 35 | 35 Uncommon |
| Petoran | 40 | 41 Uncommon, 42 Rare, 43 Epic |
| Efros | 80 | 45 Uncommon, 46 Rare, 47 Epic |
| Torovin | 80 | 48 Uncommon, 49 Rare, 50 Epic |
| Thora-Beta-6 | 160 | 52 Uncommon, 53 Rare, 54 Epic |
| Thora-Omega-2 | 205 | 56 Uncommon, 57 Rare, 58 Epic |
| Orin-Theta-12 | 205 | 59 Uncommon, 60 Rare, 60 Epic |
| Orin-Sigma-9 | 430 | 60 Uncommon, 60 Rare, 60 Epic |
The warp bands line up with the cubes: Megnomis and Atraxi sit at warp 35 next to Toz Raghli, Petoran at warp 40 next to Lymari, Efros and Torovin at warp 80 with Lomosi and Kej Bal, Thora-Beta-6 at warp 160 with Eabha, and Thora-Omega-2 and Orin-Theta-12 at warp 205 with Suncroft.
Crews for Borg Expansion Cube armadas
The long-standing crew for Expansion Cubes is Sisko as captain with Miles O’Brien and Kerla, with below decks focused on attack and health. The cube hits with six weapons every round and never skips a round, so health below decks matters more than it does against the spheres. Crew recommendations change with the meta, so check the officer tier list for current picks.
Rewards: what Vinculum Fragments buy
Vinculum Fragments are the currency of the Borg refinery. Spending them there gets you:
- Borg Queen shards
- Dezoc shards
- Charged Nanoprobes
- Active Nanoprobes
- Borg solo armada directives
- Vi’dar Talios loot consumables
The Fragment payout per cube climbs from 500 to 550 at level 38 to 3,080 to 3,555 at level 60. The biggest single jump is from the level 47 cube (1,200 to 1,320) to the level 51 cube (2,450 to 2,695), so Kej Bal roughly doubles your Fragments for the same warp 80 trip as Lomosi. Each cube also gives 957 ship XP at every level.
Borg Expansion Cube stats by level
Expansion Cubes are the heaviest targets in the Borg loop. Hull and shield health are equal at every level, and both grow about 33 times from the level 38 cube to the level 60 cube.

Borg Expansion Cube firing pattern
Every cube fires six weapons every round: four Kinetic and two Energy, each with a 10% chance to crit for 1.5x. There is no quiet round to recover in, which is why the Foreknowledge buff and a durable crew matter so much here. The table lists damage per shot at each level.
| Level | Weapon type | Count | Damage per shot | Fires | Crit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 38 (Uncommon) | Kinetic | 4 | 714,913–1,062,923 | Every round | 10% (1.5x) |

Weapon accuracy, penetration and modulation
Accuracy works against your dodge, penetration against your armor, and modulation against your shield deflection. The higher these sit above your defensive stats, the less of each hit your ship shrugs off. Warm-up and cool-down set when each weapon fires; a cool-down of 1 means it fires every round.
| Level | Weapon type | Count | Accuracy | Penetration | Modulation | Warm-up | Cool-down | Shots |

Borg Expansion Cube FAQ
Where are the Borg Expansion Cubes in STFC?
There are six, one per system: Toz Raghli, Lymari, Lomosi, Kej Bal, Eabha and Suncroft. They run from level 38 at warp 35 to level 60 at warp 205, and the full table sits at the top of this page.
How do I get Expansion Cube Directives?
They come from completing Borg solo armadas against the Borg Spheres. Running more spheres feeds both the directives and the Foreknowledge buff you need for the cube.
Do I need the Vi’dar Talios?
The cube’s own ability names the Vi’dar Talios as the ship that ends it, together with Foreknowledge. Other ships can join, but the fight is designed around the Talios, and its refinery is where the Vinculum Fragments get spent.
Which cube should I farm?
The highest one your fleet clears every time. Kej Bal at level 51 is the standout value point, because it pays about double the Fragments of Lomosi for the same warp 80 range. If you can reach warp 160 and beat level 55, Eabha adds a little more again.
How is a cube different from a Borg Sphere?
A sphere is a solo armada that pays Borg Solo Armada Credits and the Foreknowledge buff, and it regenerates its full hull if you fail to destroy it. A cube is the payoff target: far more hull (the level 38 cube has about 1.45 billion, while the level 35 sphere has about 75 million), six weapons firing every round, and Vinculum Fragments instead of credits.
Is the Borg Expansion Cube worth running?
If you are building the Vi’dar Talios or chasing Borg Queen and Dezoc shards, yes: Vinculum Fragments only come from these cubes, and the refinery turns them into the shards and directives that keep the Borg loop moving. Pick the highest cube your Talios can clear reliably, pop a sphere in the same warp band first, and do not launch without Foreknowledge. For the rest of the Borg targets, see the Borg hostiles hub.
