Borg armadas ranging from level 25-35 are handled in the same manner as regular armadas, and you can utilize standard armada crews to conquer them (always on a Vi’dar, of course). However, when facing the epic mega cubes, a different approach is required, necessitating significantly stronger Vi’dars and a well-thought-out strategy.
It’s important to note that these armadas offer minimal rewards, making them worthwhile only during the borg events. Engaging in them outside of these events is not recommended.
Mega Cubes
For those encountering mega cubes for the first time and whose alliance lacks many powerful Vi’dars, successfully defeating one is unlikely. However, it’s still worthwhile to engage in the attempt, as the directives are free, and they contribute towards other events (even failing to defeat the cube still earns you significant points). As you obtain more strong Vi’dars, you can make genuine attempts at taking down these mega cubes. But remember, they are not easy, and proper crewing becomes more critical than with any other armada.
To assemble the strongest set of crews, you need clear coordination with the participating members:
- Depending on your strength, appoint Five of Eleven (c) officers for mitigation and Six of Eleven officers for damage on all ships but one.
- One person should use a hull breach officer, preferably Lorca, but Gorkon is acceptable.
- The rest should utilize Khan to increase critical hit chance, as it maximizes damage with the hull breach effect.
- The weakest Vi’dar should have Nine of Eleven as the Captain, supported by Seven and Eight of Eleven officers. These officers synergize to entirely remove critical chances, significantly reducing overall damage received.
When targeting Photon Cannons in this manner, they are considered battleships according to the triangle classification, and since your Vi’dar is an interceptor, it benefits from the bonuses.
The players with the highest tier Khans should lead the armada, and if everyone has equal-tier Khans, the highest tier Vi’dars should be prioritized. Weaker players should fill support officer roles as they’ll deal less damage.
