The Amalgam is a Grade 3 Rare survey ship from the Independent faction, and it unlocks at Shipyard level 31. It is built to raid: its Combat Scavenger ability skims extra cargo off targets after a win, and a Cloaking refit lets it slip through hostile space unseen. If you want a mid-grade hull that turns station and supply-ship raids into resource hauls, the Amalgam earns its slot. Its home turf is the 20 border systems where Klingon and Romulan Supply Ships drop the Plundered Cargo that becomes Amalgam Parts.

How to get the Amalgam
The Amalgam needs 100 blueprints, and you build it once your Shipyard reaches level 31. The build costs 15,500,000 Tritanium and 90,000 Dilithium, and it takes 21 days 12 hours to finish. Amalgam Schematics, the item used to build and upgrade the ship, are earned through special events and the store. Every tier-up after that also needs Amalgam Parts, which you get by refining Plundered Cargo in the refinery.
Amalgam systems: where to raid Supply Ships
Plundered Cargo comes from two level 31 hostiles, the Klingon Supply Ship and the Romulan Supply Ship. Each one sits in 10 systems along its faction’s border, and every kill drops 9,000 to 11,000 Plundered Cargo. Both are Survey hulls with a single energy weapon, so a leveled Amalgam can farm them steadily.
| Hostile | Level | Plundered Cargo per kill | Systems |
|---|---|---|---|
| Klingon Supply Ship | 31 | 9,000–11,000 | Alarek, Cha’Takla, Embek, Hig’Qar, Hro’Lug, Kus’Rok, Mokba, Quo’Kor, Uklor, Xa’Lomk |
| Romulan Supply Ship | 31 | 9,000–11,000 | Bildari, Elaisik, Lilanei, Morvani, Olas, Ormilek, Rekar, Saetel, Tulris, Velnor |
Send the Amalgam out with an empty hold. Combat Scavenger only triggers when the ship has free cargo space before the attack, so emptying cargo between runs gets you the base drop and the extra cut on every kill.
Amalgam ability
The Amalgam’s passive is Combat Scavenger, and like every ship ability it is always active. After the Amalgam wins a battle, if the target is holding more resources than the ship has free cargo space, the Amalgam fills its hold and then takes an additional slice of whatever is left over. It only triggers when the ship has empty cargo space before it attacks. The bonus is a small fraction of a percent, and it grows as the ship gains levels. The practical takeaway: raid with an empty hold so the ability has room to work and can grab that extra cut.
Amalgam active ability
The Amalgam also has a player-triggered ability, Ship Cloaking, that runs on a cooldown separate from the always-on Combat Scavenger. When you activate it the ship goes invisible. The cloak drops when its duration runs out, when you enter combat, when you start mining, or when you dock at a station. You unlock it through the ship’s Cloaking refit. Use it to cross contested space or set up a raid without broadcasting your position on the map. The cloaking guide covers how cloaks work across the fleet.
Stats and tiers
These are base values. Research, buffs, and officers raise them in play. The Health column is the shield and hull average the game displays.
| Tier | Warp (speed / range) | Impulse | Cargo (protected) | Shield HP | Hull HP | Health (displayed) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3.3 / 40 | 70 | 525,000 (10,000) | 9,600 | 16,612 | 13,106 |
| 5 | 4.5 / 70 | 90 | 875,000 (18,000) | 32,400 | 16,612 | 24,506 |
| 9 | 5.3 / 140 | 110 | 1,500,000 (33,000) | 96,242 | 16,612 | 56,427 |
Cargo is where this hull stands out. By tier 9 it carries 1,500,000 total with 33,000 protected, which suits a ship whose whole job is hauling away what it takes.
Weapons and firing pattern
Warm-up is the round a weapon first fires; cool-down is the number of rounds between shots after that. At max tier the Amalgam mounts a single energy weapon.
| Weapon | Type | Shots | Warm-up | Cool-down | Damage | Crit chance | Crit damage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Energy | 1 | 1 | 1 | 18,421–22,510 | 10% | 150% |
One weapon that fires every round keeps the Amalgam’s damage steady rather than spiky, which fits a ship you send after softer resource targets rather than into heavyweight brawls.
Crew slots and officer bonus
The Amalgam opens its first officer slot at ship level 5 and reaches a full seven-officer bridge at level 45.
| Ship level | Officer slots |
|---|---|
| 5 | 1 |
| 10 | 2 |
| 20 | 3 |
| 30 | 4 |
| 35 | 5 |
| 40 | 6 |
| 45 | 7 |
The hull also boosts your officers’ stats as it progresses. Its attack, defense, and health bonuses all use the same ladder, so the figure below applies to all three.
| Officer stat amount | Bonus |
|---|---|
| 200 | 30% |
| 400 | 60% |
| 650 | 90% |
| 900 | 120% |
| 1,200 | 150% |
| 1,600 | 180% |
| 2,200 | 210% |
| 3,000 | 240% |
| 4,000 | 270% |
| 6,000 | 300% |
Amalgam refits
The Amalgam has two refits worth planning for. Both are unlocked with shards, and the ship refit list compares them with refits on other hulls.
| Refit | What it does |
|---|---|
| Amalgam Cloaking | Unlocks the ship’s cloak. It costs 80 shards to enable. |
| Assimilated Amalgam | Costs 120 shards to unlock. Increases the Amalgam’s bonus loot ship ability (Combat Scavenger) by 30%. |
Crew for the Amalgam
Crew this ship for its job, which is raiding and hauling. A bridge that protects cargo and adds survivability keeps more of what Combat Scavenger grabs, and mining or cargo-focused officers pair naturally with a survey hull. Because it is a resource raider rather than a front-line warship, you want officers that help you win the fight quickly and then get away with the loot, not ones that stack raw weapon damage for long slugfests. Specific picks shift with the meta and with what you have leveled, so check the Officer Tier List for current recommendations.
One officer is written for this exact ship. B’Etor‘s officer ability, Varied Income Streams, boosts the Amalgam’s bonus loot ship ability by 10% at rank 1 and 50% at rank 5, and only works on the Amalgam. Her captain’s maneuver adds 20% to cloaking duration on any ship that can cloak. As captain she applies both, so she is the natural first seat on a raiding Amalgam.

The Amalgam in Star Trek
The Amalgam is a game-original design rather than a ship from a Star Trek series or film, so its story comes from the game itself. In-universe it was first forged by the Pakleds, a species that appears in Star Trek: The Next Generation and is known for cobbling together technology it scavenges from others. The hull fuses Klingon, Federation, and Romulan components with salvage from across the quadrant, which is why it looks like nothing else in the game. Independent engineers later reworked the design into a purpose-built raider aimed at hitting stations and supply lines.
Amalgam build cost by tier
Build and repair costs for every tier. The cargo columns include the extra cargo each tier-up adds, so they run higher than the component values in the stats table above.

Amalgam Parts are the bottleneck here: at roughly 10,000 Plundered Cargo per Supply Ship kill, the parts total explains why most players farm those 20 systems for weeks.
Amalgam video

Is the Amalgam worth it?
For a Grade 3 Rare ship that unlocks at Shipyard level 31, the Amalgam does one thing well and leans into it. Its large cargo hold, cloak, and cargo-stealing ability make it a genuine raider rather than a filler build. It is not scrappable, so you keep it for its role instead of feeding it to the Scrapyard later. Chase it if you like turning raids into resource income; skip it if you only want combat power for its grade.
Amalgam FAQ
What systems do you use the Amalgam in?
The 20 systems with Supply Ships: ten Klingon border systems (Alarek, Cha’Takla, Embek, Hig’Qar, Hro’Lug, Kus’Rok, Mokba, Quo’Kor, Uklor, Xa’Lomk) and ten Romulan ones (Bildari, Elaisik, Lilanei, Morvani, Olas, Ormilek, Rekar, Saetel, Tulris, Velnor). The level 31 Supply Ships there drop Plundered Cargo, which refines into Amalgam Parts.
Where do Amalgam blueprints come from?
You need 100 blueprints. Amalgam Schematics, used to build and upgrade the ship, are earned through special events and the store.
What is the best Amalgam crew?
Start with B’Etor as captain: her officer ability only works on the Amalgam and raises its bonus loot by up to 50%, and her captain’s maneuver lengthens the cloak. Fill the rest of the bridge from the PvP crews above or the Officer Tier List, depending on whether you are raiding players or farming Supply Ships.
